BUT, before I go maybe I can get some answer to my problem here since most problems are fixed with FOOD.. I have been having cutaneous ( skin ) numbness in my legs lately for the past few weeks..Now, my ankle on the left is swelling on the inside... I'm wonder what in the world is going on with it and I'm about go to the Doctor. I just don't want to go back to the Doctor because have been too many times lately. I think the salt I am eating on my food could be a problem but does Hain's brand sea salt make someone's foot swell inside the ankle on one foot??? I know this is so stupid of a question but still.. I don't know what is going on here.

Eating too much salt/sodium *can* cause swelling, but it wouldn't be in just one area of one ankle. I don't know what would cause that.

Very interesting as I had some severe swelling in my middle finger on my right hand but only on the middle knuckle. Sometimes I would wake up in the middle of the night and my right hand would look like a crab claw ~ completely useless and it was EXCRUCIATING. Around the same time I developed an insatiable appetite for spicy food. I had that until the swelling went away. Never quite knew what it was from. My chiro had no clue either.
My body managed to heal itself but it took a bit. Best of luck to you......

Thank you both anyways though for the sympathy.. Hope it does go away without nothing else happening. I'm just trying not to be a hypochondriac but swelling isn't something I'm making up neither is the numbness uggh..

It sounds like you could possibly be experiencing either edema, blood circulation problems or both in your legs. I broke one of my legs severely and it took me approximately 2 years to recover from the edema episodes. They would be tiggered by me walking just a few feet and both my legs and feet would swell up painfully and would become numb also.
What helped?
Seeing an acupuncturist, juice fasting and eating 100% raw.
The acupuncture is key and I think it will really help you. Have you tried acupuncture before? See the MD but also explore alternatives. MD's only wanted to do further operations to "boost my circulation" and prescribe drugs. I much preferred getting the acupuncture treatments and I noticed significant results after a few sessions. :D
Acupuncture will help balance your entire body, organs, etc. It could be something that's out of balance which is not in your legs for example that is causing the edema - like your liver or kidneys.
Another great natural remedy is to add a bunch of chopped ginger root to your green smoothies or green juices. It's a great way to reduce the inflammation. It really works!

Hoping it's nothing and goes away soon.
Good luck, and keep us posted.

I think eating too much oxalic acid (some green leaves have a lot) can cause swelling in joints (gout).

I don't like Doctors anymore. They haven't done a thing but write scripts in the past so that's why I'm asking on the board instead because everyone here probably just as good as a doctor..
Ok, the acupuncture? I 've never considered it although probably that and/or chiropractor would help huh.. Get the blood moving.
I haven't been eating too much greens and maybe I should.. My mother does have gout so I guess I'm predisposed but it's weird it's only on one place of my inside ankle like maybe something bit me or a cut is infected and swelled.. But, I was looking at it and comparing my feet and I couldn't see anywhere where I would have gotten bitten or anything there.
I am craving salty foods right now so I'm eating a lot of salt, but that's not why because they would both have been swollen then right. I have started eating more raw foods now and will be adding more. I thought could be vitamin deficient too.. I will keep everyone posted as to what it is definitely. I think if my swelling doesn't go away soon I'm going to have the doctor just draw blood to see if vitamin deficiency or something because of the numbness in my other parts of leg here. Maybe I just need to exercise some more..
Ginger is good for inflammation? I've been looking at it in the store and at the Japanese restaurant I went to lately ( I didn't eat there ) and thinking about getting some but I didn't know how to use it... Do you just peel it and sliver/grate it or what? It's "new" to me.. I've never eaten ginger before or made foods with fresh herbs/spices before. OH!!! A new thing I noticed when doing raw, the dried spices/herbs smell bad to me. That was amazing my sense of smell is better already I think or maybe I'm just imagining things?
I'm trying to eat a variety of foods and do raw 100% because I know it's best for everything that is wrong with the body, but I'm just beginning raw and I am starting to have some weird things go with my body lately that is making me feel like I'm turning into a hypochondriac.
I'm wondering if I should put some Triple antibiotic ointment or something on it for the time being over the swollen part... Maybe I did open the skin somewhere where I can't see. It's just swollen, it doesn't hurt even when I press on it. It's not hard to walk on. The only reason I noticed was because I was taking my shoes off.
The numbness is usually on the right side inner thigh, my skin not the whole leg. So weird to have these symptoms. I thought I had a pressed nerve in my back or something so I started doing some exercises for the back (sciatic nerve) to see if it helped.. I'm not sure if it did or not though.
Thanks everyone for responding. I hope by tomorrow morning when I wake up the swelling will at least be gone.
Then I was wondering what about diabetes.. Doesn't that cause numbness in body parts? I guess I need to check my blood sugar on the glucose meters.

You don't need salt in the white granual form, if you are craving salt, try salty vegetables like tomatos and celery. I don't know why raw food recipes call for salt, but mabe Victoria Boutenko explained it when she said that, if she didn't put salt in her recipes, they would end up in the trash when she fed them to SAD eaters at raw food demonstrations, and she said that salt is optional in her recipes.
Salt causes our bodies to retain 96 times the weight of the salt in water according to Tanya Zavasta in the her book "Your Right to be Beautiful"
Salt needs to be chemically altered by a plant to be usable to our bodies. Anything else, even the "good" salts like celtic salt will pass right through our bodies without being absorbed to become part of our cells. This is a quote from T.C. Fry's courses on raw foods.

"Salt is not synthesized or processed in any way in the body and serves no useful purpose. It enters as sodium chloride, it is stored as sodium chloride, it is excreted as sodium chloride. It leaves a trail of destruction from the time it enters until the time it can be excreted. "

at this time I cannot give up salt. But I drink a ton of juice.
Try and drink tons of juice and greens. I juice beets, carrots, celery, tomatoes, oranges, and apples. Then I blend it all up with some leaves of kale or collard or any others. I juice the stems of those if they are too thick so I don't end up with super thick juice. I drink this all morning and don't eat anything till almost 12:00. Then I have an avocado in a red bell pepper sprinkled with salt. I get hungry around 3:00 and have another juice. Then eat another avocado for dinner with crunchy veggies. It's been working for me and I feel great. Even losing some stubborn weight.

WOW, I didn't realize salt was so bad for your body. I do remember Victoria writing about not eating much salt in her smoothies and foods though. Ok, I guess I'll have to just use garlic because it flavors the food or other herbs instead which is definitely better.

I'm going to try GS again because seems like I'm eating A LOT and spending a lot of money on vegetables I'm getting lately. Around 10-15dollars every 2 to 3 days I'm going to get food from organic farm. GS might be cheaper.

Ok... I looked at my foot this morning when I got up and the swelling is gone. One thing I did was drink alot of water last night... Could have been the salt idk but I was peeing a lot last night. My leg on the right side is still numb so I guess I'll be doing GS now so I can heal that, whatever it is. I'm not wasting anymore money going to a doctor who will tell me nothing is wrong because they have no idea and charge me for it.

Raw foods will help. I still have numbness in my legs off and on in different places, but I'm hoping it's from the nerves being pinched instead of nutritional problems.
Good luck on raw foods. I'm sure it will help you :)
