I have ordered Alissa's book today, and cannot wait to receive it, so I can dive in for some excellent reading and start on my journey.

I don't know if its the same in raw vegan WOE. Do we follow ratios or eat whenever hungry?

At the moment I am low carbing with huge salads and some dairy products. I have already eliminated meat and fish. Once I receive Alissa's book, I will remove dairy from it as well and go completely RAW.

I have smoothies for my breakfast, but there is still some sort of dairy that I will add to them, but that will be ending very shortly.

I did try on Saturday a green smoothie, it was pretty good. I bet if there was a banana in the mix it would have been delicious, as I love them.

Again, I'm so excited to get started, but need guidance on how to make it work.

Thank you all.

Alissa's book promotes eating when you are hungry. Whatever you like as long as it's raw. Over time you will "want" what your body needs. She has tips for after you've done it for awhile - if you want different results. But just start eating raw! btw I used to low-carb, too. And I just ate two monster mangos, a banana, and a head of romaine. And I am as thin now as when I was 17. Low carb helped me lose 5 pounds but then had me stuck with 12 more pounds on my body. 30 gram of carbs/day. For a year! I probably eat 300 now, I have no idea :-)

I just eat when I'm hungry. HA! Sometimes I eat when I'm not hungry, but not usually...

And I NEVER count calories. I'm slimmer now than before raw, for sure. I've started wanting less food but still have the energy to go around. :)

When I first started I ate a lot and when I was hungry. Now it's leveled off, but I still cycle...sometimes my body needs a lot of food and sometimes not. As an example, I've been very full & satisfied with 1-2 green smoothies and an apple the past couple of days. Last week I ate a lot of food in comparison. I threw the scales, ratios, calorie counters, other people's expert nutritive opinions and most other measures out the window when I went raw last year. It feels good to be free -- getting in touch with my body by listening to it and monitoring how I'm feeling.

Eat raw and be merry. :)

This WOE sounds like heaven. I became so obsessed with the scale, and making sure I don't go over my calorie intake for the day while low carbing that it drove me crazy.

Its been about a month now, that I have leaned towards huge salads and some fruit, but again, scared to eat alot of fruit on low carbing because of the carb thingy.

So this will be a better more relaxed WOE to do as a lifetime thing.

worrying about carbs & proteins & fats and this and that is SAD thinking...toss it with the rest...just my opinion.

eat whatever your body says it wants...over time you will really get in tune with "intuitive eating"

greens = rebuilding & healing

fruit = cleansing & detoxifying

Moretta, I, too, came off of a low carb diet. Don't be scared to eat the foods that nature intended for us to eat! I decided not to be afraid & went full force into it...of course, for a month, I ate a lot because my body was so starving for the nutrients that it had been depleted of by eating so much cooked food that had no nutrients! And I still lost weight without counting anything. Of course, I ate a lot more fat in the beginning but then that tapered off. However, my focus was not on weight loss but rather-health. It was just nice to see the side benefit of weight loss as well. I'm sure those 17 lbs were toxins stored in my body from the meat, dairy, eggs, etc. that I had put in my body. I try to eat as close to 100% as possible but I don't say exactly 100% because of all the foods that are debatable on whether they are raw or not. Good luck to you & I hope you find your way!

The winning combination for a smoothie for me has been this simple recipe:

1-2 bananas
5-8 strawberries
handful of spinach
filtered water to consistency you like

Every once in awhile, I might throw some hempseed oil in there just to give it a little bit of fat.

Yes, spinach, bananas, water is the way to go. So easy to digest and filling.

You said it! That's the glory of eating raw. Eat when and what when one is hungry, don't when you're not. Those days are done (counting carbs, calories, etc.). Thank goodness! Who has time?

Smoozies are the way to go baby!!!

I love a dark leafy green (like spinach, chard or kale) with pineapple and a little ginger. Super nutritious and tastes great!
