mmmmmm!! I love the gravy, and the taste of the meatloaf. But.. I am not so sure that I sprouted the barley correctly. There seem to be pieces of (barley I think?) stuff that is a bit too hard. I let the barley sprout longer than Alissa has suggested on her chart. It's supposed to be soft/chewy, I assume?
I am very new at sprouting! But I will still continue to eat the meatloaf until it's gone. The mushroom gravy is SO good!

Can anyone tell me how the texture of the sprouted barley is supposed to be?

Not hard, but kinda chewy. Did you use the right kind of barley?
hulled is lighter. Unhulled is darker. You want HULLED barley.

Thanks.. Yes I used hulled barley. I think I need to practice sprouting it. The texture in the meatloaf reminds me of almost-cooked-enough rice.
I am sprouting chick peas now, which seem to be eaiser (?).

I'm starving and reading this website is super dangerous. I need to look for the meatloaf and mushroom gravy recipe Glad I am at the library and reading and not raiding the refrigerator for everything in sight. My computer crashed so my Dell on back order they are saying about 3 weeks out besides my order now having 2 problems I need to contact them about (19" upgrade free to 22" is now bumped down to 19"=wrong; then the DVD/CD read/write burner is showing now only as DVD for reading I believe=another wrong. Calling them Monday. Warning: have to read every new order they revise with fine comb and not assume what you wanted changed change, but expect something else may have changed you didn't request to be changed).
