Hi, I was reading an article that said there was this fruit that had the consistency and taste of rice pudding. I think it was an asian fruit, not sure. I can't find the article anywhere so I went to an asian market and nothing rang a bell. Does anyone know of what that fruit could be. I would love to try it if it tastes like rice pudding. YUM!!!

Thank you, Debbie

Durian does not taste like rice pudding at least not to me it doesn't. It looks like butter or custard but not like rice pudding.

I think you might possibly mean dragonfruit...? It looks like a black & white kiwi inside, soooo yummy! Try it even if it isn't the one! You'll like it!!!

I think the fruit you're thinking of is CUSTARD APPLE.

It looks a bit like cherimoya, but tastes different and is absolutely DELICIOUS!

Very rare here in the UK (I get mine from a Thai delivery co)

Hi guys,

Thank you so much for all your replies, but I've had durian, definatelyl not that. I LOVE cherimoya, but it wasn't that and I've also had dragon fruit and I like that too, but that wasn't it either. :( But, thanks again. If I see the article again, I will let you know what it was. I'm gonna go look for that article right NOW. I need to know. lol.

Oh, I forgot custard apple. I read that a custard apple is another name for cherimoya, no????? Oh, gotta try that too then. Thank you. I don't think that was it either though cause I would have remembered that name because I thought they were one and the same.

Thanks, Debbie

OK, I think I've got it for you...

Cherimonya and custard apple are slightly different things. They're both part of a class of fruit called anona.

And...there's another fruit within the anona family - it's called 'rolinea'.

Dr Doug Graham: 'Rolinea - one of the anona's - is a fruit which, when fully ripe, has the color, texture, consistency, and taste of rice pudding.'

Do I get the prize? (and if so I'll claim a box of rolineas - please ship to me in Reading, UK, Berkshire - thank you :-))

Love, Debbie
