Hi All,

I see some recipes with kelp noodles. I assume these are not raw, but they are plant-based noodles. Does anyone know where I could buy these online. I don't have a natural foods store in my area....I live out in the middle of nowhere :-)

Also, are there any other plant-based noodles on the market?

Or maybe there is a way to make noodles in the dehydrator that are plant-based and for sure raw? Does anybody know?

Thanks!

I used to buy the kelp noodles made by Sea Tangle Noodle company. You can find the at www.kelpnoodles.com. They claim to be raw and work nicely as a pasta substitute - very neutral taste too. Unfortunately, they don't really seem to digest for me and make my teeth feel strangely squeaky when I eat them so I have decided to cross them off my list for awhile....

I just finished a fabulous recipe for fettucini alfredo from Rawvolution (I cut back on the lemon). Zucchini works well using a spiral slicer to make angel hair pasta. The trick is to let it sit for at least 8-12 hours at room temperature so it dries out first. They should be peeled too.

I also have used the kelp noodles and the package does say raw.

Thanks! I did not know they were raw....so that's good news.

I do use zucchini, but wanted to try something different.

They are raw and they are noodle-like...BUT...they are crunchy. Just keep this in mind. Some people think, looking at them, that they are really soft like regular noodles. When you bite into them, the middle crunches! I prefer zucchini noodles b/c it's cheaper and easier, but they are great if you want something different. I used to put them in my salad too. :)

Do they taste fishy, like kelp/seaweeds do to me? I can't stand fishiness, (never ate it in my life, long, gross story!) but know it's good for the thyroid...

To me they have no flavor at all. Just glassy like and crunchy. I enjoyed them with the "Cashew Chow Mein" recipe.

The texture is really weird! It's like spongy and crunchy--sort of like the texture of shrimp :o if that helps anyone...

the flavor is neutral, it's just the texture i can't stand :[

No fish flavor AT ALL. I actually thought they might taste like seaweed and was a little dissapointed! LOL. They are really flavorless.

Hi, I see the kelp noodles say they are raw but what about the mixed seaweed ones. Are they raw also? I think I'll try them. Is there anywhere else I can try instead of buying 12 boxes?

Thanks

Debbie

The mixed seaweed ones DO taste 'sea-like'. But I LOVE that taste. I thought I've heard that these sometimes are available at Whole Foods? Dunno. They are small bags. Really. I get two meals out of one bag.
