Good morning fellow rawbies. I just had a yummylicious "Best Raw Coffee Ever" but was wondering if any of you soak your cashews before adding them to this drink? Thanks for any comments.:)

Yes. I sure do soak nuts before using them in cacao smoothies. I have had mostly almonds, though... not cashews. Nothing against them, just like almonds better in my cacao mylkshakes when I have them.

I haven't had that particular drink, but I personally soak all my nuts unless the recipe specifically calls for dry nuts. I then (if I have time or have done this previously), use nuts that have been soaked and dehydrated.

this sounds good could you post a recipe..

a scoop of cacao powder (1 heap.T)
2-4 capsules Fo-Ti (I use 2 and empty them into vitamix)
a scoop of Maca (I use 2 capsules & empty them into vitamix)
1 T lucuma (I've never bought it - expensive, I think - what isn't!)
1 squirt Yacon (same as lucuma - have never used it yet)
1 squirt Agave
1/4 vanilla bean
big pinch nutmeg
Handful cashews (try others)
About 1 cup ice
1 cup or so water
1/2 pkg. stevia (or so)

1 sometimes add a banana with it or I omit nuts and add banana. You can do many variations I imagine. This gives me lots of stamina, & energy. Hope you like it. Some day I am going to get those 2 missing ingredients - they likely make it even yummier.:D

Just chiming in to say I ADORE that best coffee ever <swoon> So amazingly yummy! I make it with just a tad of ice so mine is more like iced coffee rather than a smoothie.

I've noticed soaked cashews are creamier than unsoaked cashews, but I don't think it's as important to soak them, as say almonds or other hard nuts. I've seen recipes that call for unsoaked cashews. I say go with your preference. What is your preference?
