Hi everyone! I have only been lurking for just a couple of days and didn't need to lurk long to know that I needed to join this community! I am actually not really completely on raw yet--I'm certainly adding many raw things, but I feel like I need a plan, some good recipe books and some applicances to really be able to do this as a complete and permanent lifestyle change. I have many questions and am learning quite a bit here. I also am signed up for a Level 1 class in September and I am so rediculously excited about it!!

I will ask some of my questions in the appropriate areas, but I'll tell you, I was stuck on the thread that showed the pictures of all the beautiful raw creations you all are coming up with!! I do need to get some good recipe books--and I'm starting with Alissa's book, but I need to order it. I'm trying to see what other books you all recommend as well and I have found a few. I wasn't really thinking I would need a dehydrator, but I now see all the great things you can make and I see that many of you guys really use yours, so I guess it's going to be an essential appliance.

Anyway, I am really glad that I've found this forum--I love the way you all are so supportive of each other and are so friendly. I basically have come down this road through feeding my dogs raw and basically, the reason I am feeding them raw is pretty much the same reason why I want to eat this way too! It was just a natural progression I guess. I'm not really having any real health issues at this point, but I am feeling like I should be feeling better, like I should have more energy and of course, I would love to not worry so much about all the dreaded diseases. I fully feel like the raw foods lifestyle is the way to go and again, I felt the same about feeding my dogs. But, even with feeding them, I kind of needed at least a little preparation and some supplies, but other than that, I changed them cold turkey and just started and never looked back. I'm hoping that I can do the same with myself and hoping you all will help me along the way.

Anyway, I think all I need are a few good appliances, a few good recipe books and some help from you all and I'll be good to go! I'm very glad I found this forum!!

If you read Alissa's book and watch her DVD you WILL have a plan......they are GREAT!!! They will also prepare you for your september class, which I'm sure your going to love. You will also find that you don't need as many appliances as you may think you need after watching her DVD. She used an inexpensive blender maybe a couple times and an inexpensive food processor. The really nice blenders and food processors are great but not necessary to start. Start off with Alissa's book and DVD and devour those first a few times and then branch off into other books. Her's really has everything you need (imo) and all the other books are just fun. It's great to have you here.
