View Full Version : How much weight did you gain AFTER the MC?

After breaking your fast, how much weight did you gain? Does it matter how long you did the Master Cleanse?
I'm on Day 12. I'm not sure how long I'll fast. (Do I need an end date?) I've lost about 10 pounds so far, but I fully expect to gain some of it back after I break my fast. But hopefully not all 10 pounds! How much is reasonable?

When I do short MC fasts I don't notice any weight gain..when I've done longer ones-like the 30 day or longer ones I've done in the past..sometimes it could be 3-5lbs...guess it depends on the person...it usually goes away though as my body adjusts to the reintroduction of whole foods (on longer cleanses I tend to lose 20 lbs or more)...think it depends on the person.. don't quote me as an expert or anything and this is just what i've noticed about me...but usually toward the end of a fast (if its a long one, otherwise I'm doing this approach the whole time on a week fast) I will try to make sure I'm drinking every 2/3 hours just like I usually would with whole foods, I figure in that way I've got my metabolism and digestive system "on schedule" so to speak (used to me eating something every 3 hours) and I try to exercise throughout the process. That's my little method... But hey-that's just me, seems to work for me when doing long fasts. I don't worry about the "regain" pounds anymore cause I figure once I return to my yummy foods and regular exercise routine it will work itself out.

I'm on the opposite end...wanting to MC but really worried b/c I can't lose any more weight...I'm a stick. I would like to do one and then gain weight though...but worried.

I find I gain back an intestine full of feces after I finish fasting. (but I don't do M/C) - So normally anywhere around 6 poundsish. I don't find I gain back any of the actual weight I've released though... just the feces.

Might not wanna MC...maybe just doing certain juice/fruit combinations- combining those fruits and veggies that are known for their detoxing/cleansing properties...kinda like doing a daily cleanse verse something like the MC which is not meant to be a daily thing as it is more intense (kicks up the detox process right away in my opinion compared to just eating healthy combinations)...

I've read a couple different opinions here on RFT.... one is that they gained back about half of what they lost....
but the most common response seems to be about 5 to 6 pounds.
regarding your questin about having an 'end date'.... There are times when I fast that I don't have a firm 'end date'. I watch how I'm feeling and sometimes, I may end the fast sooner than I had orginally thought I would -- or ... I may extend the fast another few days or weeks.
How much you gain back depends on how you eat and your exercise habits following the fast...
eat 100% raw - you will not gain hardly any weight back
get daily exercise - you will not gain hardly any weight back
you will be healthy and glowing.
if you (on the other hand) go crazy and indulge in creme puffs and cheesyy pizza... be assured you'll gain back what you lost ... and probably a few more pounds too!! :D But then you know that! ;)

Thanks for your replies! I'm on Day 14 of the MC. I lost (I mean released) 7 pounds within the first 3 days. I'm now down about 10 pounds. I thought that I'd lose more, but I guess that 10 pounds in 14 days is pretty good. (I'm doing the MC to cleanse and release toxins, with the hope of releasing lots of weight.) I plan to go at least 21 days. Maybe more. I'm concerned that if this weight loss is so slow, I may not lose too much more in the coming week (and trust me, I have a lot that needs to be released!). And my bigger concern is that I will gain back, perhaps 5 pounds, if not more.
At lease I feel great!
