So I know that people say your taste buds will change (eventually) but in the mean time, I hate green things! I do NOT like salads, I do NOT enjoy smoothies, and I do NOT like to eat my veggies! Perhaps this is because I grew up not eating those things... I could get my decent amount of servings of vegetables in when they were cooked things, but I just can't seem to get them in with raw & I've tried super fruity smoothies with a TINY bit of green and I just don't even like smoothies, lol. Are there any other ideas? Should I just force myself to eat them until I get used to them? And by "greens" I mean even things that are technically fruits like cucumbers and tomatoes (which aren't even green, haha!). Right now, my inability to eat vegetables makes me worried that I am setting myself up for failure health-wise, so hopefully with your suggestions, I can gain some greens and some confidence.

Do you like non-green veggies? Like cauliflower, purple cabbage, beets, carrots??? If so, I would start with these and slowly incorporate some green into your life. Just suggestion!

Blessings.

I start my day with some organic green food powder in fruit juice. I can think of lots of things that I would like better but it is fast and reasonably painless. I think that a lot of sprouts could be considered as green so maybe you could make it up this way. Why not consider growing wheat grass and having some wheatgrass juice every day. That is the best green that you can have. Green chlorophyl is important so it is worth working on.

I will have to look into that... Green powder seems like something that I could easily add, because I do like to drink water/juice... I thought about growing wheatgrass because I've heard great things, but we have a badddddd juicer that barely juices... I do get a nice paycheck in another week or two, though, so maybe I'll have that be the first thing on my list of things to get! I think downing one "shot" of wheatgrass really fast would be bearable!

Hi Avanderland,

I'm a lot like you . . . not liking a lot of foods. I found that just taking a little of something (okay forcing a little of something down me), eventually I do adjust to it and even sometimes actually like it!!!! The first time I had carot juice, I gagged. I now enjoy it when I make it, which isn't too often.

My new adventure is cherries. I never had cherries before. I have now eaten 3 (not at the same time). They are okay, but I know if I occasionally eat a cherry, eventually I'll adapt to them and will enjoy them.

You're right it does take time to adjust to the taste, but we do adjust and some of the foods we will find will be very pleasant and one possibly one of our favorites food.

I never drank coffee, but I heard the same from coffee drinkers. They said they didn't like it at first but eventually they got "hooked" on it and couldn't go a day without it. I'm sure you'll find the same thing with the greens. Just do one bite a day. It will grow on you.

For some reason green food powder should not be mixed in Carrot juice. Dont know why but it defineatly does not work. It is awfull. I thought that it was just a personal preferance but I then saw the same recomendation on a product website so there must be some reason

That's so funny because I LOVE CHERRIES :) That's one thing I could eat a bushel of (not that I really know how much a bushel is!)... I think I will try to continue slowly adding it in & hope my tastes do change! I think I read somewhere once that it can take up to 7 times of tasting something before your taste buds get used to it, I guess I just have to be patient and keep trying! :)

Averland - what about seaweeds? Dulse is great, salty and chewy and has a lot of minerals, etc. There's also nori and kelp. Sea Seasonings makes Kelp Granules (and others as well) that you can sprinkle on soups and other dishes.

I hadn't thought about those... I'm sure they'd make great "toppings" on things if nothing else, and an easy way to add a bit more green. Will definitely have ot look for them at the store this weekend!
