I am starting all raw on August first and am wondering for those of you with weight to release or have already released it, how often do you weigh, or did you in the beginning weigh yourself.
I actually weigh myself everyday and have forever, often twice a day :D , not that it seems to make much of a difference in my weight....I guess it's somewhat of an addiction. ...and I am trying to decide if it's a problem or not. And how often I should weigh myself once I embark on 100%.
So what are your routines this way?

Once a week max. :)

I am trying to release some weight too. I usually hear that once a week is the max you should weigh yourself. That said, I am guilty of weighing myself nearly everyday. However, I only count Sunday as my "official weigh-in" day. I think it depends on how you view your weight. I try to ignore the small fluctuations, but if I see a trend happening (up, up, up), I try to figure out if I am doing something wrong, or if there is another factor like muscle building (my scale measures body fat so if I see the % going down, but my weight is going up than I know it is muscle). I am able to use it as a motivational tool. Some people can get discouraged by daily weigh-ins because they don't take into account that some fluctuation is normal.

I weight myself once every 2 months. I used to check the scale everyday, but now I go by how my body feels.

I used to weigh myself daily, too. Now, my scale sits atop my wardrobe, and I only get it down once/week, on Tuesday mornings when I first wake up.
If I weigh myself more than that, I get discouraged by small fluctuations (like if I went down 1 lb one day, and back up the next).
It's kinda fun to only weigh yourself once/week. Because if you had a really good week, you're looking forward to your weigh in day. And if your numbers go up instead of down, you have a whole week to work on it before your next weigh in.

Hi, My name is Green Diva and I'm a Weigh-a-holic. :o
I weight myself daily. At least twice a day, sometimes more. I know I shouldn't but I do. Especially before and after using the bathroom. I can't stop. I don't obsess about it though. I also go by the way my body feels. Some days the scale doesn't reflect that I feel lighter but, oh well. I don't let it bother me. If I see any weight gain I know I have to go to my food journal and figure out what I did and fix it.
Personally, I think as long as you don'g obsess about what the scale says it's ok. That is just my opinion.

I threw out my bath scale a few years ago as I'm a recovering multiple times a day weigher. :p It has been very freeing not weighing myself and not worrying about it. At this moment, I have no idea how much I weigh. It's much more gratifying to me to go clothes shopping to measure my physical body changes. The other day I had to exchange a dress for XS because I was swimming around in the small size. That was both a shock and a great motivator for me. I don't believe that I've ever had the pleasure of experiencing going down to the smallest size available - even as a teen - haha! Perhaps it's comparing apples and oranges, I don't know. But those results are much more satisfying to me than numbers on a bath scale and it helps me with the weighing habit for sure. I just go by how my clothes are fitting and how I feel healthwise.

There are varying studies and opinions on this. Some articles have said that "those who kept the weigth off weighed daily." I personally weigh everyday first thing in the morning. And also take into account small fluctations that happen, but watch for any climbing trends. Like now from eating SAD.
August Challenge here I come!

Okay, I think my method may not be popular, but if you do it from a healthy place, daily weighing can be good for you.
This is only my perspective, but it is working well for me.
I weigh myself once a day without clothes and before eating. Just once, though!
I have removed the emotional power from the number on the scale. It is simply information to help me know my body. I am interested in how weight fluctuates daily based on hormone changes, salt intake, what I've eaten, etc. I have found it very helpful to have a record of daily weights. I have now learned that weight goes up and down and up and down and it doesn't matter! It's my weight going down over the long term that matters to me.
I record my weight once a week.
I think this decision needs to be based on your reaction to your weight. If you know that a certain weight will ruin or make your day, weigh once a week.
If the number can be neutral information, daily might work for you.
Some people use the number on the scale to decide whether their "diet" is working. If it will be an excuse not to eat raw, don't weigh often.
I am committed to raw and the numbers won't change my mind.
Best wishes finding your way!

I should've known the variety of answers wouldn't help me decide Anthing! lol...
So once a week I will have an Official weigh in...any other weigh in's will only be scratching my itch. It won't be obsessive, just scientific curiousity. I won't be alone because Onebiteatatime will be with me in cyberspirit. I will use glass straws...oh wait no that's my other thread. I am glad that I am not the only one that thinks exactly like me greendiva. And I will LOVE the day when I can try on a small and it's too big. Although with my height I don't actually think that's possible ;) Although maybe I am only 5'5.5.
And I Always weigh myself starknaked first thing in the morning too....I note things like salt intake, dehydration etc.
It seems I am doing it all, and I don't see this changing. But atleast I am not alone!
aaaah, this is fun. I love hearing about other people's weigh in habits. ...apparently I am taking my interest in the subject to a whole new level.
AHahahahHAHaa!!!

It is interesting hearing everyone's experience with the scale. I just can't go anywhere near a scale...sort of like any other addiction. Once I step on a scale, I'm a goner and will find myself in Brookstone or Fry's buying a super electronic new age one that talks to me and sends me text messages or something. "beep beep beep....Crystal your BMI is not in balance...." hahahaa! Good luck with your routine Bananna whatever you decide to do!

but I would Love a scale that texted me! Is that sick?

I am exactly the same way!! For years, I didn't have a scale, and my weight escalted FAR beyond what I thought possible! It was easier for me to stay in denial when I didn't have a scale.
Now, the scale holds me accountable. I do obsess a bit, but it's better than letting my weight continue to go up and up like what happened to me before!

Nope, not at all. I'm sure someone's designing it right now if it doesn't already exist. lol. I admire your ability to transcend the scale...I'm not there yet. :)

Well it happened because once I read about this person who weighed himself all the time but explained that he likes to just see the natural rhythms of his body. That planted a seed in my head that grew into a much more functional perspective.
I agree, when I don't weigh myself, it's Much too easy to stay in denial...My love of food is not something I actually trust and leave to intuition at this point.

This is where I'm doing really well right now -- with the intuitive eating and watching my body change without (my) neurotic scale tendencies bursting forth and taking over. Hmmmm...maybe there is some correlation? The secret may be in balancing both aspects. Aha!

Oh wow, I was sort of half joking. But I know when you've got a thought, it means it's circulating in the Universe somewhere. ;)

I agree! I don't really believe in weighing myself. I mean, we're trying to get back to a lifestyle that's natural for our bodies (whole raw foods, spending more time outside and active) and people survived for thousands of years, largely without weight issues and they didn't have scales and body fat percentage trackers.
I only weigh myself if I think my jeans are fitting too tight, to check whether it's me or the dryer ;)
