View Full Version : How young do people think you are?
Queen Bean

I saw a girl on Saturday night. She is 29. I am 36. I haven't seen her for seven years. She said 'Queen Bean (!) I haven't seen you for seven years and you look younger than when I last saw you. You could seriously be thought to be in your early twenties.' !!!! I am not fully raw, but wonder what I'd be like if I was. (One day.) (I also did some rebirthing that day, so the breathing and associated processes may have helped.)
How old are you? And how old do people think you are?

well people used to tell me they thought i was in my 30's... but i can't imagine anyone thinking that now. i turn 45 in a few days.
I am not sure how old people think I look but most are very surprised when I tell them I am 39 so I take it as a compliment.

;) thanks for the compliment!
Oh my gosh...I have got a funny little story. While I was at work...(I used to work as a waitress)....a woman and her teenage daughter came in the restaurant. They came up to me and told me they were new to town and wanted to know what I thought of the local high schools..being that her daughter who was 17 was looking to find a new school. They then asked me, not only if I liked my teachers but if I could hang with her daughter during school and show her around her first day!......You should have seen their faces when I told them....I AM ALMOST 40!!! :D I don't think they believed me...funny, I almost couldn't believe them!!! Honestly now....I know the raw vegan lifestyle is good....but able to take off 20 years!?.....LOL!!!.....okay...yes, it made my day. ;)

Just this past Saturday - my 16 yr old sister & I were volunteering at the animal shelter when another volunteer lady asked if we were in high school - I laughed & said "No, I'm going to be 32...."
At the health food store I work at many people tell me I look like I'm in my early 20's.
I don't have any pictures to post yet.....but hopefully soon....I'm on day 102 & not one bite of cooked passed these lips! Maybe by month 4 or 5 I'll post something.

People think I am in my early or mid 20s - until they meet me, than they think I have to be at least 30 (because I seem too "educated" or something). I will be 39 in 2 months.

Depending on what I'm wearing and how I do my hair...I hear mid 20's to early 30's. I'm 45 and I love being 45! Most of the time I don't mention my age because I don't always want the attention. This happened before I was raw because it's genetic, looking younger runs in my family. But raw has made it much worse or better, depending on how you look at it. :)
Funny story...recently when I was riding the bus downtown in my city, a teenager -- I'm guessing a junior or senior in H.S. was sitting behind me and he started hitting on me. I was clueless and thought he was just making polite conversation until he started obviously flirting and asked me what school I went to! I didn't have the heart to tell him I graduated from "H.S. and college", many, many, MANY moons ago. hahaha. I just told him I finished and he seemd surprised. I asked him where he lived and he said with his parents. Oh wow, talk about feeling like a cradle robber and really old. That was a weird and funny moment...truly.

great photo queenfluff!! Actually --- all the photos are amazing...
well... I'll be 52 years old in a few days... and I loooove being in my 50's - it totally RAWks! I have 4 kids (2 step children ages 40 and 38) and my own 2 kids - ages 30 and 24... and 5 grandchildren - (both my children have sons -- the oldest grandchild is 12, the youngest is 3 years old) and the other 3 grandchildren are from my step kids...
some people think I'm in my 30's or 40's which is very sweet to hear... (most times I think they are just being very nice -- lol!!) My husband is 65... I do think he looks much younger than his age -- perhaps its the combination of Raw foods and living in Hawaii that makes us more relaxed.... our life style I think is a little slower paced than if we lived on the mainland.

Nobody has commented on how old I look for many years. And I don't know that they know how old I am. I did have one eldery Indian (as in from India) man say something in regard to me taking my daughter out and muttered something about, "How cute! She is out with grandma!" I didn't like that so much. Technically I have been old enough to be a grandma for many years, but I didn't need to hear it.
If you saw me sitting somewhere, you might think me to be younger than I am. But maybe not if I am walking. I have a variety of medical problems and because of this I am disabled. I can walk, but I tend to walk somewhat slowly and not necessarily in a normal fashion. Some people have commented that it looks like I am limping. I think one leg is stronger than the other.

I haven't had any comments since I've gone raw but when I was 26 most people guessed I was about 35. Given the way that I have deteriorated in recent days, I'm sure now at 28 most people would peg me for 40-42 if I even dared to ask.
Do you all credit raw with looking young or are you all just naturally young looking? Any of you feel that you have started to look younger since going raw, as in you used to look older and now you look much younger? My mom has smoked, drank, and generally abused her body and is 62 but most people guess she is around 48 so it is certainly possible to just have a resilient composition.

No, I don't colour my hair.
So in all my photographs my hair's my natural colour.
But I do have a few grey (white) ones around the temples, that don't show in the photographs, and they are...increasing....so I reserve the right to lose my nerve and resort to the bottle at some point in the future. (And if so I will of course immediately take off the bit on the 'My Beautiful Year' page that says my hair colour's my own :-))

This is a really fun thread and I love seeing the photos being posted!
I will turn 50 in a few weeks and most people guess me to be between 35 and 42. I will sure take that as a compliment! And when I am out with my son who is almost 29, everyone thinks we are a couple (poor guy to have people think his mom is his girlfriend or wife!). In fact when he was a teenager someone assumed we were a couple and he was horrified, I felt so bad for him!
I think lifestyle in general makes so much difference; high raw, exercise, stress reduction, positive relationships, etc... all go hand in hand.
What we put into our bodies really does show up in our faces!

I've definitely changed since going raw... I looked much older when I was smoking, drinking and eating cooked EVERYTHINGS... the more raw I am - the younger i look.... the healthier i look...
there is a DEFINITE change.. infact - if I eat cooked foods or do any drinking - it shows up within days... my face gets puffy and changes...

When I was 18 and waitressing (I'm now 21), an older man thought I was 30!! I figured it was because I'm articulate and was all made up that day, and also because the man might have had slightly poor eyesight. Of course, I wasn't raw then, so we'll have to see what people think in the near future :) I don't want to look that much older than I am!

i'll be 22 in just under two weeks and recently, people tell me i look like im in high school quite a bit-they say i look 16 or 17, which is crazy because when i was in high school, people always told me i looked like i was in my twenties. i attribute this to my healthy eating habits, yoga, and just having a more relaxed approach to life (I think when i actually was in high school, i had a lot of anxiety and stress).

This is a great thread! Much fun to hear the stories!
Well, I've always been mistaken for younger, which, when I was younger, was the bane of my existence. I guess what they say is true, when you're young, you want to look older, and when you're older, you want to look young! It just seems exacerbated now!
I just turned 28 in July, and I STILL get carded EVERY TIME at the liquor store (buying wine on occasion.....only on occasion!). In Canada, the legal age is 19, btw. Also, whenever my girlfriends and I go out, it's funny to watch the bouncers stare at my driver's license....I mean, really, if I were underage, would I choose a birth date that would make me 9 years older? It's funny, nonetheless.

I took a friend of mine who is a few years younger than me to an adult store for the first time and the guy looked at me (not her) funny and told me there was no way I could be 18! After I whipped out my ID he just laughed and I thanked him for the compliment. :D

Riiiya, Rawxtasy, Rhazula, Earth Sista, Starfire and everyone you are all so beautiful inside and out. Raw looks good on you!
Coming home today I was thinking of this thread as a funny thing happened at my former orthopedic surgeon's office when I tried to schedule an appt. I happened to go into the city on a whim and decided to make a follow-up appt - it's been a year and I need to do this for insurance purposes. Anyhow, so the woman who was (not) helping me was in pure bitchy form and it was like pulling teeth to explain I was a patient...blah blah. The vibe was just getting stranger by the minute as I calmly explained my situation. After much clicking and sighing she made an exasperated sound at the computer screen, looked at me, looked at the screen, looked at me again. Finally I couldn't take it anymore and asked her did I do something wrong? She looked really shocked! She began apologizing profusely. I then asked her what are you apologizing for?! She thought I was a teenager and was giving her attitude!!! LOL. She didn't realize she was talking to a 45 year old woman who's knows her medical history. hahaha. Oh my goodness that was freaky. I may look young at times, but I don't think I look that young.

Alter it however you like - just remember age is a state of mind.
This is one of my biker friends, Leslie - she's 35 and just snagged the WOMEN'S LAND SPEED RECORD at Bonneville Salt Flats. The girl got to 209.046 mph.
This was her second go at the record - last year the bike wiped out at 110mph - broke 7 ribs, punctured a lung and knocked her out. She came back for more this year and nailed it!
Angelina Jolie has nothing on her!

Honestly now....I know the raw vegan lifestyle is good....but able to take off 20 years!?.....LOL!!!.....okay...yes, it made my day. ;)
Wow, you are almost 40? I saw your tattoo and cool hairstyle I thought you were mid to late 20s! LOL
