Hello everyone,

I can't tell you how glad I am to find this website, I am happy to find some support for going raw. I was diagnosed with severe endometriosis 13 years ago when I had an ovarian cyst burst resulting in surgery to partially remove the ovary. My doctor cleaned up as much of the endometriosis as he possibly could. I never realized it could come back as badly as it did. Last year I was diagnosed with fibroids and I had a hysterectomy this past January. Once again I was diagnosed with severe endometriosis which has now started to affect my bowel and bladder. This really got me scared so I researched it on the internet and found a great website for support and info on endometriosis. A couple of months after surgery, I started having joint and muscle pain which progressively got worse. I found a diet on that website (no wheat, dairy, sugar, or soy) which I decided to try and, low and behold, it got rid of my joint pain. However, I still have slight pain in my fingers but it is sooo much better than the pain I was experiencing. That convinced me that diet has a HUGE affect on your health. My doctor said the symptoms I had sounded like fibromyalgia, he was rather impressed that the diet worked.

I introduced my sister-in-law to that diet and she did more research and found information about raw food diets which lead her to Alissa's website. I got Alissa's book last week and read it on a camping trip this weekend. I read through it again on the way home. I was so inspired by it that I am ready to make a 100% committment to going raw. I will be joining in the 30-day challenge for August and I'm anxious to get started.

Welcome! I had similiar problems before I went raw. (Fibroids, horrid cycles and baaaad cramps) I had mine removed but they grew back because I didn't know they were diet related. Now I do! I've been raw for about a month. My cycle has quieted down tremendously. When your body becomes alkaline on raw those fibroids will disappear. Cutting out the processed, packaged, food with preservatives helps heal too. Good luck! :)

Carolv-welcome. I too had endometriosis and a total hysterectomy. Since going RAW I have been feeling so much better. Being RAW really helps with menopause symptoms and well being. Good luck.

Welcome to this wonderful group carolv! I know you will love it here. You will find so much information and encouragement. So keep reading and try doing a blog too (if you haven't already started - I am behind in reading the blogs of our fellow rawbies :o ).
My daughter has problems with her periods and digestion - she is just 27 and I am so hoping to help her by my example alone. You are on the right road to better health.

Hi Carol and welcome. I too am from Ohio but the Cleveland area up north. I have been raw now for 31 days and yes you should go 100% b/c the 1st time we tried to go 100% and then we thought we needed some cooked to survive but that was all wrong. Well we really didn't know anything about raw and just dh buddy was telling us about it so we lasted about 2 1/2 wks then once we added some cooked it was all over back to the old habbits in no time. So just stick it out for the 30 days and follow the recipes she has.

I would invest in a great blender I have a vita mix but I also saw a different kind else where that I think I like better maybe .5 more hp and a bigger container like it was wider like. But look around and see what you like. The dehydrator makes a world of difference. My dh and I are raw my dd will do somethings and ds wellllll lets just say he will have a strawberry and kiwi smoothie. So we are getting somewhere with him. So I got the 9 tray Excalibur dehydrator with the timer and that was the best investiment. The timer is so great to have I just set it and go. This weekend I will be making lasgna and choc cake since we have a bday party to go to and that is what they are having. So I am trying to have what they have so I don't feel deprived. Which I really don't feel like that.

So hang in there and you to can make it before you know it you will have the 30 days under your belt.

Have a great day and see you on the challenge board.

Hi Carol and welcome. I think you will be amazed and delighted by the health benefits of going raw. Alissa's book is the most practical guide around.

Good luck!

(I'm from Ohio, too, a bit north of you.)
