being raw but I really want to. I'm new to this community. I'm new to raw but I'm not new to trying to eat better. I'm 2BRaw from GA. I'm about 20 pounds overweight and addicted to sugar. For me, it's really not about the weight, it's more about feeling better and having more energy. I like fruits and vegetables but I don't know if I can be completely raw. We will see. I'm going to try the 30 day raw in August but I know I will need lots of help.

I think it can be easy if you choose to let it be! You can do anything for 30 days and then you can see how you feel about the whole thing.
At this time of year raw foods are everywhere. Take advantage of the sumer bounty. I wish you the best!!!

I feel special already. I've read a few post and I'm excited about my journey. I think I will learn/gain a lot from you all. Tomorrow is going to be my first day 2BRaw.

One day at a time and be kind to yourself because an occasional slip is part of the learning process. Good luck.

It is difficult being new to raw, though not as much as one might think. I'm brand new to the concept of raw (when I say brand new, I mean like a week :)
I'll share this little anecdote and hope it helps. I'm easing my way into raw - been about 50% for this last week, a huge jump from my former lifestyle and already feeling the benefits. This morning I made a green smoothie. It was pretty awesome, but simple, just the way I like it. 1/2 heart of romaine lettuce, 1/2 zucchini, 1 green onion stalk, 1 T lime juice and a pear. So good :)
Then I got to work and I was peer pressured into a doughnut. Lol, I don't even really like doughnuts. Never have. So anyway, I had one and now I feel like crap. I'm suddenly lightheaded, exhausted and jittery at the same time and there's a headache coming on. Now it's like "oh yeah. That's why I don't eat this stuff." Our body was not designed to handle processed sugar and food.
Best of luck!

Eating lots of greens (green smoothies) helps me with refined sugar cravings. Be sure to watch Alissa's DVD it will really get your excited about raw and living foods. Her book is great too.

I totally identify with you 2BRaw! I've got about 15 to 20 lbs to lose because I'm starting dance classes and the excess is really detrimental. And I'm addicted to sugar. I've gone about two weeks without dairy (with the exception of a little cheese on a sandwich or in lasagna (obviously I'm nowhere near raw yet)) and I'm suprised to find I don't miss it at all. But sugar is going to be a much harder habit to kick. Like my friend took me to McDonalds the other day and we ended up sharing a cookie. And there are four boxes of fried diabetes (doughnuts) in the breakroom right now. I don't even like doughnuts, but the fact that they're mildly tempting does prove to me that addictions are not easy to kick. I suppose that's why we haven't discarded them already ... makes sense right?

because I feel off the wagon. I haven't blogged because of that. But after reading everyone's post, I feel like giving it a try again. Thanks for the encouragement. Tomorrow I'm going back to 2BRaw. :D Or better yet tonight I'm not going to eat any sweets and drink plenty of water to wash out what I've eaten so far.
This is hard but not impossible!
