I've been high raw for two years now and I thought I was doing great. I typically have 1-3 BMs daily (after spending my teens and early twenties with 1-2 a week). However, the last two weeks I've been under a ton of stress and got so plugged up that a bag of prunes had trouble working their way through my system. So it was time to bite the bullet and get a colonic.

I've read about them for a few years now (Dr. Norman Walker's books are the ones that got me on the raw vegan diet and he advocated colonics) but the thought of the process never thrilled me. It wasn't bad though. Things often seem worse than they actually are. It was a weird feeling to say the least but once it was over I felt so much better. It wasn't an amazing, mind altering feeling that some people describe but it was nice: empty and a bit tingley. I'm happy I did it and I'd certainly recommend it - especially if your system is a bit sluggish.

Good to know, thanks! Just scheduled my first one for a few weeks from now. I'm actually one of those weird people who is looking forward to it.

Awesome about finding relief with the colonic.

I wanted to add I've experienced constipation in direct proportion to other "blocked areas" of my life. When I healed the blockage with affirmations or just being aware of it, boom!, no more sluggisness. If you don't know about it, check out Louise Hay's Healing the Body philosophy about there being an emotional core or reason for most dis-eases of the body. When I'm stressed or worried, I also experience sluggish bowels. Just thought I'd mention this as it may help to work with getting to the core of what's causing the sluggishness in addition to the colonics...which in some cases just work on the surface level. Sometimes we're not ready to get to the core, but if you are I highly recommend looking into Ms. Hay's body of work. Pun intended.

I think this is why being Raw is so amazing also...you can't help but to get to the core of it all if you know what I mean. Raw emotions and all of that.

Best wishes and glad you're movin'. :D

Hi.. ^^

I agree so much Rawheaven.. Raw def takes you to the core of who you are and the light in the plants def brings those things hidden within the corners of your being str8 to the light. This raw journey is so much more than learning how to dehydrate gourmet raw meals, or soaking nuts, etc etc... It' about taking you back to who you really are... So awesome!

congrats on the colonics... I have been 100% 3 years and was going 3 or 4 times a day, and still having problems, but since I have been adding colonics, all the emotional and physical symptoms still lingering are finally on the way out!!

I swear, once people balance the physical with the emotional when trying to heal -- MAN, your gonna take off!!!!

I had my first one last week... While the experience was good, I don't think I'll be going back to the place I went.
When she was done, I still had to "go" a few times immediately and felt crampy the next day. There's a place that's supposedly really good about 40 minutes from me... but I was dreading the drive so opted for the closer one - big mistake.
If you're going to do it, do it right!

I was so motivated by that cleansing that I've ordered Humaworm and Humacleanse to really get the bad stuff out then plan to do colonics every few months to keep it up.

Glad you enjoyed it! (and so glad there's a forum here where we can share stuff like this... my friends just don't understand

I had 3 recently and it was my first time trying it. You do have to go afterwards so that part is normal. I got set up in a beautiful zen bathroom with reading material and was told to take my time! It's a completely different world but it helped me out. I'm sorry about the cramping. That I didn't experience, thankfully. I hope the new place works out better for you.
