I was diagnosed with Adrenal Fatigue over a yr ago and was put on an Adrenal Supp. Things went well, until I left raw and started exercising. I know, I need to get back to raw ultimately and will in time (topic for another discussion).
My Dr gave me another Adrenal Supp which has lots of herbs in it contraindicated for b'feeding or pregnancy. Under normal circumstances he recommends not taking it, but because I am into all natural and things the like, he feels it fine to give this supp to me, and agrees that the herbs are probly fine for the baby (20 mo and nursing 3-5 times/day).
I was wondering if anyone has any info on these specific herbs and if they are in fact "fine for the baby"?
They are: Rhodiola Root, Ashwagandha Root and Leaf, wild oats, Holy Basil E.T.O.H, Holy Basil Supercritical Extract, and Schizandra Berry.

Does anyone know anything about these. When doing online searches I just come up with all the normal, "if pregnant or nursing...contraindicated". But I know sometimes it's actually fine.
Thoughts? TIA

ashwaganda is an adaptogen and I would be very comfortable taking it. Wild oat I would take. Holy basil wouldn't worry me. Rhodiola is also an adaptogen, and with very few exceptions they are generally fine for breastfeeding moms.

From what I know (and I am not advising you either way) the Schizandra Berry would be problematic if there are allergies, chronic illnesses or autoimmune disorders. In those instances it can be an issue for your babe.

Beyond that....that sounds like a great supplement for depression! If that is a part of your adrenal issues I'd think you'd find relief pretty quickly. Are you doing B vitamins as well?

Thanks, that was super helpful! I think I will actually hold off on it for now though. It seems, even with an increaseed Thyroid, and Adrenal supps, I feel the same, very little improvement.
The, not so surpirsing, fact is, I feel so much better on raw! I am struggling getting back into it, but daily think about it, especially as I wake up groggy and achey and needs naps daily again ect ect.
But, that's a topic for another post.
