the best new fruit i ever discovered.....and i wasnt raw at that point...was something called egg fruit. YEP! just as it sounds ! its a tear drop shaped fruit with an inside that is the texture AND taste of egg yokes,
i discovered it when i was living in hawaii last year. i LOVE eggs but i didnt want to eat too many of them.....so iused egg fruit when i wanted an egg salad sandwich. it mashes jusy as egg yokes do and would put mayo into it and spices and MY GOD! it was JUST like egg salad !
i wasnt raw then but my next door neighbor was and when i brought him an egg fruit.....he just cried because he use to love hard boiled eggs.
BUT!! i never saw them anywhere but hawaii. and i got them from a person that was growing them.
keep an eye out if you like the taste of eggs....if you see one grab it.
they are DELISH!
Hawaii was great for all kinds of raw fruits that would ape ape other food items. white sapote is like custard and black sapote is like chocolate pudding.
in fact its called the chocolate pudding fruit.
the year i was there i had SO many crazy fruits i cant remember too many of them. if you are raw....its paradise !
i once got a coconut off a tree that was ...NO LIE.... BIGGER than a basketball ! the coconut water from it filled nearly a quart and a half container!
oh i do miss hawaii.....what a great place to be raw !

yeah.... LOL i do LOVE to eat thats why i have to go back to raw. when i was raw before...i ate like a pig ...all the time. if i am not raw i have to be really careful or i blow up like a ballon....like i have now. i REALLY need to lose weight so raw will take care of the health stuff AND the weight loss.
keep an eye out for the egg fruit. its just wondeful

Hi GlimR,
The tiny grapes were over by the cherrys in my supermarket. (Publix) I was originally looking for those wonderful golden cherrys from the northwest that we see down here about once a year.

to each his own hun....if you dont like eggs...thats fine. i happen to like them and finding a fruit that impersonates an egg is wonderful.
dont you find nature so amazing that a fruit could ACTUALLY taste like some animal protein? whether you like eggs or not is your choice but finding fruits that pretend to be something they arent... to me..... is just simply mind blowing.

Hawaii is such a wonderful place to be raw. my next door neighbor would come home every day with avos and mangos off the trees and all kinds of fruits that were just there for the picking.
if you ever do visit hawaii.... drop me an email and i will send you to the person who grows the egg fruit. the trees fruit several times a year if i remember and you can go when they are in season.
i plan to go back there as soon as i can get things sorted out.... its such a raw food heaven. i hope you do get there... you will be spoiled for life. LOL

personally i try not to do seedless grapes... or seedless anything but especially grapes. the seedless stuff is usually hybridized to be unnaturally sweet and my body's not into it. plus it doesn't have the same lifeforce as seeded fruit. just my personal opinion, not trying to ruin anyone's new favorite fruit for them. :) wild concord grapes from the woods around here are pretty fabulous though. can't wait until those come out. :D
what else... figs are a somewhat new discovery for me, it's only been a few years and i'm still trying new varieties of fresh figs. oh, dried mulberries too, still haven't tried fresh but the dried are definitely my favorite dried fruit i've ever had. and also autumn olives.

Aleesha, which fruit is genetically engineered? I hope it's not my beloved little grapes! :(

i'm not sure... that's why i asked.
the "new" fruits on the market are usually genetically engineered though... cause really... after how many years on this planet... new fruits don't just spring up unassisted :)
