Teflex is expensive, so why not use those thin, flexible plastic sheets sold for cutting veggies, etc. I bought a pack of 4 for $5 awhile back.

Let us know how they work....and no, teflex is not needed. Others have used other things such as parchment paper yet, it's not reusable.

Parchment paper isn't reusable?
I've always used a piece of parchment more than once when baking foods in the oven. I would think because of the low temp. of a dehydrator and no risk of burning foods, you would get even more use from parchment paper - it would stay cleaner.
Am I wrong?

Not necessarily wrong. Thing is, usually when I use the teflex sheets it's becuase what I put on it is too wet to put directly on the screens so I tend to wash the sheets. Can't wash parchment, correct?
If the food is dry enough, no teflex or parchment needed.
