Here I am throwing little mini fit because I am not ready to accept it yet. I went on holiday to the US for 6 weeks and was at the mercy of everyone elses cooking. I tried to stay close to raw for a while but it got too hard with all the amazing food! At first most things didn't even taste good, but I got used to it quickly.
Now I am eating a typical "healthy" SAD diet. I am starting to exercise for the first time in almost 2yrs, after my Adrenal Fatigue/Hypothyroid diagnosis, and am just not doing well. I don't want to accept the answer that I cannot exercise anymore, so I went to the Dr again to talk about how I can incorporate "normal" activities into my life and not get sick again.
I guess, after having so many dietary restricitons due to intolerances, and choice of lifestyle, and having many activities limited as well as sleeping ALL THE TIME, I am too anxious to ne "normal" again.
I don't want all the questions, to be different, and to think about stuff all the time!
Well, my Dr told me he thinks going back to raw is probly a good idea! I totally didn't expect that! He said to take it slow because I have been eating alot of cooked lately.
So I guess I am saying Hi to you all after a while, as I will be lurking around and trying to get back in the swing of things.
I need all the encouragement I can get as I am pretty down right now. I wanted to train to run a 10k and was doing pretty good until 2 sessions ago, my heartrate started racing again and I am going downhill. Dr says no more running for now. This has me a bit bummed.
Off to have a smoothie, see you around.

Encouragement, encouragement!! :)

I was reading one of your posts the other day on adrenal fatigue because I think I might have a bit of that too. I have been on the raw food diet since the 11th of this month. I said I was going to ease into it, but I went right for it. I personally love it. This week my husband told me my skin was glowing and that I'm looking younger. Today I went to GNC to get some Flax Seed so I can make Alissa's Flax Seed crackers and as I was leaving the clerk said you are the healthiest looking person who comes in here. :D :D

I said that to encourage you. I also have more energy, even if I don't get a good night's sleep I can do all kinds of things. I am beginning low impact aerobics, and they do tire me out so I'm just doing lesser time, and not everyday, but I know I'll get there....you can do it.

Do you have Alissa's book, it is awesome really, beautiful, big, and loaded with good stuff. Just a fun book to pick up and read.

I hope you feel better and I wish you luck on this journey into Raw Foods...:)

I had adrenal fatigue syndrome. Last summer all I could do was lay on the sofa. It was awful. I started adding more fresh fruits and vegetables to my diet. Started meditation for stress. I began completely raw in Nov. of last year. This summer I am biking 10 - 15 miles and I just started running with a goal to do a 5K run in two months. I feel tons better!! I am happy your dr. told you to go back to raw. Don't feel bad- it takes time to get better. There is a lot of support here.

I am surprised to hear of a doctor suggesting you going back to raw. That is great.

I've dealt with Adrenal Fatigue, green smoothies have helped a ton.

Raw always welcomes you back, and so do we.
Do to some female issues (which I'm having checked out today) I'm possibly looking at no longer running as well, and instead of getting down about it, I decided I can still do the local 5 and 10k's....I'll just walk them! It's all about health-and walking is healthy....plus, I'm sure I'll get a nice little lesson in humility!

Whoa, where'd you guys find such awesome doctors? Oh wait, Canada.
Lucky you. U.S. doctors...well, 99% of em at least...would be anti-raw even if you completely changed your health eating that way. It's the dairy brainwashing. Gotta detest it.

I need your doc, where is he/she? lol. The last doctor I was seeing was Indian and vegetarian, and was a bit concerned about me saying I was going Vegan. I didn't even mention Raw Vegan, he probably would have had a lot of concerns.

That is great to have a doctor like that... so so good. It's rare. Even a naturalpath most times will try to get you to eat according to blood type.

When I went in to have my blood work done he didn't say much. But I know my doctor... he researched RAW between visits... that's what he does. So when I came back to those amazing results (he couldn't even sit down he was so excited about them) he told me to keep doing everything I'm doing. Working out, eating raw and loving life!

He said, "the only thing I want you to change... is when you eat your greens, have some citrus with them so you assimilate more iron".

That's it, his entire request of change... which I've happily done! (my daily iron levels are great but my residual levels are low... so we are working to raise them - naturally with food)

That is way cool to have a doc say eat raw! Way to go! And I've been having a lemon w/my green smoothies daily. Just getting my body alkaline every way I can.
:) :D :)

Thanks for welcoming me back and encouragement. Yeah, I was totally amazed and shocked that he reccomended it! He did say go slow and to include some non raw items, but the fact he acknowledges it
s the bets for me is cool! Hey, he even feeds his dogs all raw to get rid of thier ailments, he's not raw though.
I haven't truly come to terms with it yet, I have had eating disorders since young, and I was just sick of focusing on food, and liked the "freedom" of not thinking about it. But, it is what it is. I will try to do more raw tomorrow.
I am in Singapore btw, so probly won't help y'all unless you travel to Asia!;)

I have decided I am still running, I just don't want to give that up. I couldn't run more than 1 min 6 wks ago, and now I can go almost 2 miles, 1 1/2 without stopping! If I fuel my body right, then I should do better, right?

Thanks again, and see ya 'round

I'm jealous that some of you have doctors that understand. I told my naturopath that I decided to go raw. She didn't say much, but that it sounds like I might now have enough protein. I guess the proof will be when my health issues improve. I am motivated to do more juicing and green smoothies (dr. approved of these).
