I was just reading Alissa's Book. I got to the chapter about food combining. I saw that most fruits and vegetables do not go well together..
is there anyone out there who does not combine fruits and vegetables at all?
any difference?

it's up to the individual. some people need to watch what they eat together but most just eat... as much as they want, whenever they want... after all... it's raw live healthy food! pig out!!!

I usually don't combine fruits with greens or nuts, the exceptions would be, raisins in nut balls for sweetner, and apples in green smoothies.
I know food combining can be so confusing. I remember reading an Anne Wigmore cookbook "Recipes for Longer Life" with all these great recipes and then in the back, there was a food combining chart that contradicted some of the recipes in the book! I guess that if the recipe digests for you then it works! But I always see these people mixing all these diverse ingredients together and wonder how they can possibly digest them, I wonder how much poor food combining contributes to people's struggling and failing on raw?

I too have been reading in various places and books not to combine fruits and veggies with the exception of apples. So, so far for the most part I've tried to do that. But I have yet to read about the *why* of it? Its easier for me to remember if I understand the principle.

greens are not veggies.
greens can be combined with fruit.
greens can be combined with veggies.
:D apples can be combined with veggies!
but honestly, unless your tummy is telling you different, why bother worrying about this? your body will lead you. as it becomes more raw for a longer period of time, your tastes will changes... just go with the flow!

I have really poor digestion ans yesterday a made a kale, apple, cucumber juice for the first time and I did fine. I was surprised as in the past I haven't done well with adding fruits to my green smoothies.
I can't even fathom eating raw desserts made with dates, raisins and nuts anymore...I ate these in the beginning but my digestion can't tolerate the combination anymore.

Sproutman Steve Meyerowitz has a great book on this called Food Combining. It has to do with what enzymes are activated when and where and under what conditions.

food combining seems so complicated to me. I generally practice the fruits alone rule but other than that ...bleh
I guess I will pay more attention if I feel some discomfort.

I just follow basics
melon alone
greens with fruit
I dont mix veggies and fruits
Have to be careful as I am an ex crohns sufferer, however, thats pretty easy!

Victoria Boutenko says that greens are in a class by themselves. They are not veggies... they can be combined with either fruits or veggies...
*nodding* yup, that's what she said and I believe her... she hasn't steered me wrong yet!
