I finally got myself a Brita pitcher over the weekend and I seem to be having a problem with carbon in the reservoir.

It says to soak the filter for 15 minutes and then rinse it well and dump the first two pitchers full. It also says it's common that the first several pitchers will show carbon in the resovoir but I have continued to fill and dump and at least a dozen pitchers full later I'm still getting carbon in the resovoir. And I see it in the canister water as well.

I thought maybe I had a defective filter so I put another one in and I'm having the same problem.

Has anyone else had this problem?????

I really want to use it and but don't understand why so much carbon.

I used to have one a long time ago, and the problem cleared up for me within a few uses. I liked it. We now have one of those big dispensers w the huge jug on it, it refrigerates the water- I love it, but I suppose there are issues w the plastic jug. Is there a number in your papers from Brita you can call?

I suppose I should call them, I've done at least 2 dozen pitchers now and still getting the carbon.

I'm frustrated because I threw away the box so can't even return it.
