When I first decided to go raw, I took the advice.

'keep food available, don't let yourself get too hungry, and you may end up eating a lot, but its ok if its all raw"

Well, the advice worked, however, im having trouble not eating a lot. This is going to sound weird but, I don't need to eat as much as I do, but I do it anyway!!!! I keep making myself WAYYYYY over full.

Has anyone else had an issue with slowing down a little?

I feel like my body is getting all that it needs by lunch time, I don't get hungry again, but I find myself eating a HUGE dinner and getting wayyyy too stuffed! because... eating dinner is normal. I know I dont have to, but im struggling!

Well...first of all being aware of it is the first step. I don't have any practical advice except that now you are you can take steps to change it if you want to. Your weight is down and you are close to your goal and that is fantastic so it doesn't seem to be hurting you in that way. Maybe have a green smoothie for dinner or something lighter. YOU control what you do, what you have. If you want to eat lighter in the evening, make sure you have a specific thing planned and then go do something else.

I guess I wonder if you are loosing weight and so close to your goal are you sure you don't need the food? By the way you have released a lot - congrats !!!

I do know that I sometimes at night eat more than I should and I am conscious that is a pattern I need to break. Yet at the same time I then add up my caloric intake in my head and realize I am doing perfectly fine. Of course there are some nights when I eat too much and I have to reflect and make myself aware so I can keep releasing weight. Oh, isn't it something!

I also have noticed when I eat less and am OK about it as I feel full I don't loose as well as when I eat more. Just me.

When I first started eating raw I ate way more than I eat now. Sometimes I did find myself forcing myself to eat more. I thought it was "normal" to eat and so even if I wasn't really hungry I would eat because I thought I wouldn't be healthy if I didn't eat more. Wrong. The longer I stay raw (not 100% yet), the more simple my meals are. I now understand that I am getting what I need and I don't have to keep eating because it is "normal" to have a certain number of meals a day. When I'm hungry I eat. If I'm not hungry I don't eat - even if I have eaten very little for the day - as long as it's raw.

I think it is pretty normal for new raw fooders to eat a lot. I think that it has to do with wanting to experience that cooked, heavy and numbed out feeling that we had when we were eating the SAD.

Give it some time and see if you slow down in your eating. If you don't then you might want to examine the relationship between you eating and your emotions. Wanting to eat too much and too often is frequently caused by an inability and/or unwillingness to "be" in the present moment, (with all its imperfections) and experience our feelings without having to numb them or distract ourselves by consuming something.

Blessings,

I struggle with overeating all the time! I've been raw for about 19 mos., and lost 37 lbs.right away. I am just compulsive and eat when I'm not hungry. It's not too big a problem, except that I eat to much fat -- nuts, etc.
The closest I've come thusfar to managing it all is to fast one day a week. This sort of puts the brakes on my comulsion for awhile, but I don't think it's the long term solution I want, which is to eat when I'm hungry, don't eat too much fat, and that's it. I'm no help here, I realize it, but I do hear your struggle, as it is mine as well. Good luck!

its frustrating!

Ive gained weight and I don't eat nuts!!! LOL not much, just 5 or 6 lbs, it comes off fast again. Im not really even concerned with the weight, I just keep, consciously/unconsciously (more so) making myself WAYY too full. I think im still in the mindset that in order to get enough nutrients raw, I need to pig out!
