I know that this topic is gross but must be talked about at some point. I have noticed that sometimes my gas is much worse and smells worse than other times. Sometimes I have no gas at all and if I do then it's not smelly at all. What is the difference? Does it have anything to do with needing enzymes or anything like that because it seems that the more raw food I eat, the worse that the gas gets. What can I do to make it better?
Thanks,
Erika

I would say to make sure you are eating slowly and chewing your food well. Watch food combining, and be sure to drink nothing during the half hour before you eat or an hour after you eat.
Make sure your colon is moving properly, meaning you should be eliminating once a day for every meal that you have. If your bowels are not moving at least twice daily, increase your water intake and your green smoothie intake. And lighten up on the heavier foods, such as nuts and dehydrated foods.
The smell of gas is usually determined by what you are eating, just the same way the smell of our bowels is determined in the same way. Babies who are fed infant formula have horrid smelling bowels, and babies who are breast fed have bowels that smell slightly of sour milk, but the smell is not strong. Things such as garlic, onions, non-raw foods, etc. will determine how bad you smell.
Also, certain foods if not broken down completely within the mouth will not digest in the stomach/colon. These foods sit in the colon and ferment. Then bacteria starts to eat these wastes and the bacteria themselves give off gases...disgusting but true. This is where chewing your food well comes in.
Hope this info helps!

Very interesting and detailed answer vibinonlife, I'll definitely take this into consideration! I've always been known as a fast eater, that's probably why I've always been plagued was gas (with the help of my SAD diet).
Thanks.

my hubby must be doing it all wrong cause ohhhhhhh holymotherofgod... he can clear a room!http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x87/recyclinggoddess/th105F155F6-1.gif
I used to ALWAYS have gas (pre raw) when I would go running. It was actually pretty funny. I would run and toot.
Now when I run, usually no gas! I think my digestive system is moving things along a lot better.
Do you frequently do vigorous exercise? I wonder if that wouldn't help get things moving. Maybe a daily "run and toot" would do you good. haha

Sounds like fiber is to blame for a lot of it....

I actually have the same problem. The gas disappears completely on a fast. But it appears regardless of what I eat.
