I got this recipe from a person at a raw food potluck I went to just recently. The recipe calls for dried figs, but I used fresh figs and then I refrigerated them when I was done.
I love these! I made 2 batches of them and served them at a party and my non-raw friends loved them as well!
Hope you like it!

Fig and Date Squares (Gone Raw) Excellent!

Fig and Date Filling

2/3 C dried figs (6) I used fresh figs
2/3 C dates, pitted (6) - used madjool
1 T lemon
1 T raw honey

Crumbly base and topping

1 C peacans or walnuts (I used pecans)
1/2 C almonds
1/2 C shredded dried coconut
5 large dates pitted
1/2 t cinnamon
Pinch sea salt

Place filling ingredients in a food processor and blend to paste. Set aside.

Process nuts, coconut, cinnamon and salt in food processor Unitl coarsely ground.
Add dates one at a time and process until mix stars to stick together.

In 9 X 7 rectangular pan/dish (for thin cookies) or square pan/dish for thickers oneslll arrange 1/2 crumble as base. Spread filling mix over that. Sprinkle with remaining crumble on top. Press layers together with back of a spoon. Cut into squares. If want warm squares, you can place either pan, or squares in dehydrator 2-4 hours.

The recipe sounds wonderful! I have a few questions, are the dried fruits soaked and have the nuts been soaked?

I can't wait to try these!

Thanks!;)

I just made these, I used only fresh dates rather than 1/2 and 1/2 of dates and figs. They are really good. Thanks

I used fresh figs so I did not soak. I was also tight on time so I did not soak the nuts either.

You will just have to make another batch of them!

Here I am posting on this thread again! :) I finally made this recipe with fresh figs, a combination of Black Mission and Green Kadota. WOW! Amazingly delicious!! With fresh figs it was softer and crumbly, more like a cake than a cookie. I put Brazil nut/cacao butter "whip cream" (think raw cheesecake) on top and ate it with a fork. Everybody I shared with loved it. Some said it tasted like apple pie.
