A couple months ago, I challenged my boyfriend to eating 3 servings of fruits/vegetables a day. Once he began to meet that, I set a new challenge for him -- to drink a green smoothie 4x/week. Every time I make one for myself, I would make some for him. He did not always drink it, but often is certainly better than none.
I did not have to pressure him either. I made them super fruity and smoothie like at first, and have upped his greens over time.
Now, I gave him Green for Life. He's reading it, believing it, and loving it. If I had just given him the information first, he probably would have been very skeptical and shrugged it off, as sweet and supportive as he has been. He buys me raw recipe books, but has not really read up on anything raw. I showed him a couple things, but it was not till the slow green smoothie infiltration that he started to open his eyes!!!
He's away for the weekend, but he actually wants to read more of my books when he comes back. (And duh! Alissa's will be one of the FIRST I show him - again.) But I just wanted to post this story for those who worry about your friends' and family's health. He was pretty SAD, and by being a model of improving health, but keeping it open and fun, he's been much more receptive. Through introducing things slowly to him, he's been opening his eyes!!
And I'm pretty sure I've read about green smoothies being one of the keys to getting other family members to eat better at least once or twice before. If you have a story, I would LOVE to hear it.
