I'd been 100% raw for more than 3 months when I had to have some blessed altar bread / soul cake in my dear grannie's memory, two weeks ago.
I haven't been able to stop since...
I keep reminding myself what a hard time I had detoxing when I first started but I'm not getting through!
I gained 6 pounds :(
I am so very disappointed & ashamed to be "enjoying" a cheese toast as I'm typing this.
How do I get back on track?
Help!

Mind over motion!
That's another big ticket item that so many people forget. That cheese toast can't get into your mouth if you don't transport it there with your hands! (or lower your face into the dish to eat off the plate)
When you get the craving tell yourself... "Listen Self... I'm raw and lovin' it. I refuse to give into your silly cravings when I know this isn't good for us... so move on sista!" Then grab a yummy raw something... ANYTHING and eat it. Drink a green smoothie (feeding your body nutrients instead of SAD yuck) and walk away!

aww the temptation of bread. Oh how I loved it. It was my favorite drug. It made me sleepy for bedtime. It made me numb during the day. It comforted me while I was eating it. And filled my belly with a happy full feeling. It would call me with the scent of fresh french bread. So soft and warm. Perfect with coconut oil on it.
It called me back again and again. And I had no will power. If I wasn't feeling well or I was tired. It was there for me.
But I realized that all along ...Bread was the one making me feel like crap. It was the thing that was keeping me down and unhappy and in need of being comforted.
But still...I had no control. I could not stop. All I could do was remember that I started eating healthier because I started drinking fresh juice. So I would have my Green Smoothies and fresh juice and have my bread too. Until one day...the bread started making me sick. Started giving me headaches. My body was ready to get rid of the bread. The smoothies took over and won the battle with bread. It didn't happen overnight. In fact..It took a whole year. But I never gave up my Green Smoothies. And that is my advise to you.
Now I have energy. I am not eating food to feel sleepy or numb. I am eating it to feel alive and happy and to feed my body what it craves.
:) :) Green Smoothies FOREVER!!!! :) :)

And I had no will power.
I disagree. You had heaps of WILL power... it was the WON'T power you were lacking!

Don't you worry. See this as an experience and let go the guilt. For instance, during this experience, you have learned that for you if you make exemption with this kind of food, you will get hook if not you will get very uncomfortable with craving effect.
Here is what i would do. Eat this food, but from peace. Acknowledge that this isn't good for you but you still make the decision to eat it.
In the mid time, increase your greens consumption or take them in smoothies. They heal craving.
Once you are ready, set another day for comittement, knowing that you are allow to eat it but will let it go for good on the day that you will commit.
For me, i made exemption too and i kept making those exemptions, it was only when i re-commit that it worked. I actually wasn't eat cook food one week prior to my comitement. I knew i was allow but i didn't want it. It was brown rice for me.
Learned you lessons. My lesson was to accept that cook food even though this is organic and supposed to be good for you, is addictive and if i make exception, it means a lot of work to find peace within and not having cravings. I learned to respect the power of cook food over me and not to make exception.
FOCUS, on your accomplishment. You still make room for your raw food and just breath to learn what you need to learn.
Exercise on top of the greens, will also help to eliminate the discomfort of craving.
Blessings!

The issue of blessed bread has been one I have had to deal with as well. I tell myself that I am eating it becasue it is blessed and not because it is bread. So, I don't use it as a license to eat other bread. In other words, It think that if the bread isn't blessed (in a ceremony), than I am not blessed to eat it. This helps me, I hope it helps you.

Wow I really like this advice Raw Angel Mom!! I agree, I've decided the same thing for me, no rules, just enjoy doing healthy things, and not beating myself up if I eat something I shouldn't, like yesterday at lunch, creme brulee  Today I'm all raw again, and actually sometimes I think it's good to eat other things, because it reconfirms what you already know, and brings you back to healthy eating. That is what is happening to you, you know it's not what you should be eating and even though you were eating it as you were typing :p you're already working on the p r o c e s s...(because it is a process and it takes time) of not eating it, by telling us and asking for help.
I feel sure that you won't be eating it for long. :D

Depending on your church, you might be able to have some of your own raw bread blessed. Sometimes, where I used to attend (an episcopal church) people had wheat and yeast allergies and they used some kind of rice things. It was on the paten and was blessed along with the regular (homemade) bread and the wafers that they take to shut-ins. I don't know where it came from, but if this is something you'd like to do on a regular basis, you could talk to your minister about it....We kept unblessed, unbaked loaves in the church kitchen in the freezer. You could store some of yours that way, too.
