Does anyone know any good recipes using chard stems? I hate throwing them away and they are so pretty.

Have you tried putting them in green smoothies?
Why are you throwing them away? I use them in my salads, smoothies, and the whole leaf/stem can be used for a wrap with pates and whathaveyou.

I usually just chop/blend them up with the rest of the chard.

Thanks for the replies. I heard somewhere that they were hard to digest, but it seems that everyone here has no problem with them.

I run all my kale and chard pieces through the juicer. My 11 year old juice helper says they have more juice than the leaves=)

Just make sure to chew well if using them in a salad or other solid food meal. We should be doing that anyhow, but certain items like some greens, cabbage & other produce needs extra chewing.
