Since I started raw, my thyroid has actually started moving towards the point of being underactive. I know that raw is supposed to help thyroid problems, but my seems to be going out of the normal range instead. I'm wondering if it has to do with consuming so many foods that are considered goitrogens (e.g., cabbage, kale, spinach, broccoli, cauliflower, etc.) that disrupt iodine uptake. Has anyone ever had this problem or needed to limit their intake of these foods? I've probably been eating at least four or five cups of these total a day. I know we're supposed to be able to eat whatever and whenever we want, but the whole thing just doesn't make sense to me and I'm hoping to find some answers here!

I used to have a thyroid problem but no longer do after pretty much cutting out all goitrogens. I will have a few scraps of cabbage in a salad or occasionally a few bites of slaw. That's about it. In my case, the main culprit was soy. I used to eat a lot of it.
