i seem to bruise very easily mostly on my thighs... i thought this was caused by lack of iron or zinc? i eat enough greens...green beans and salads green peppers spinach...im kind of baffled at what causes this ?!?!
aside from this though, one night some time before my problem mentioned above, maybe cuz of skeeter bites, or i hadnt shaved my legs, but i was wearing semi tight stretchy pants and was going nuts with itching...to the point where i wanted to go home so i could take my pants off. anyways i was rubbing and scratching through the pants. the next day i had bad brusies from this tha tlasted a good week and a half. i know this bruising was caused by insane scratching through the pants. i was also on oxy 40 mg that night for a previous accident/injury. that may have added to having itches.

Vitamin K helps w/ clotting. It is mainly found in leafy greens like chard, kale, spinach, parsley, etc. My leg bruising has improved since I started GS and I'm betting it's related to the dramatic increase in leafy greens. Also, herbs like garlic, gingko, cayenne have blood thinning properties which could increase bruising.

I bruise extremely easily! I am upping the green smoothie intake -- so we will see if it helps.

i always have bruising on my legs!
being raw or not, it does not seem to matter.
sometimes i think it has to do with genes... my granny gets really bad bruises from practically nothing.... she said this even happened to her when she was young... though now age has worsened the condition.
any suggestions would help! thanks to those who gave some!

thanks for the replies. i always thought it could possibly be a symptom from aenemia. not exactly sure what that is from. is the thought of it being from lack of zinc or iron right...anyone else heard that? and what is the cause and effects of anemia if anyone knows?

Just like my mom and I! Huge, dark bruises from slightly bumping a doorknob or something! haha

I've alwyas bruised easily, and have almost always been anemic. I used to assume that it was due to anemia, but I also read about Vitamin K.
I have noticed that when I am sure to VARY my greens and get them EVERY DAY, it is far less. I was getting bruises that I did not even know where they are coming from... I'm back on my green smoothies, salads, and VARIED greens, including a green powder, and they are have not been popping up nearly as much.
That being said, I cannot say for sure that will help. There are so many other factors in each of our individual diets, and I definitely did not experiment to find exactly which one was helping. But given that bruising can be caused by a lot of things that greens can fix --- it's worth a shot!

Also, there are many types of anemia, and low iron is not the only one. However, most of the time, anemia is not actually caused by low consumption of iron, especially in nowadays. It is often caused by poor absorption of iron (thus why I have had problems with it my whole ife --- although I think raw will help with that in time as my digestive system gets in the groove.) Anemia can be in iron, b12, etc...
The best thing to cure it? Usually to up your intake. Even with myself, and my poor absorption, I up my intake and it helps, as then I have a better shot at getting what I need. Greens are the biggest way to get iron, etc... If it gets extremely severe, your intake may have to be upped through sublingual, shots, etc... However, such dietary deficiencies rarely just pop up, but are built over time, and would be showing much more severe symptoms than just easy bruising.
