I have some questions about listening to our bodies. Right now my body is saying this is not good, the question is how do I know it’s detox versus not agreeing with me. Today I feel sluggish, had sorry but this happens everynight since I started this diet (a TON of gas) Could be why I feel sluggish, it wakes me up in the night. Also I never have to get up to pee in the night, but since starting this diet I have to get up everynight. I am drinking 3 (20 ounce bottles of water a day) lately I’ve stopped fluids before bed but it doesn’t matter, still getting up.
Today I have bone pain, my hair is lifeless, feel tired, and thought geez, we’re taught to listen to our bodies, and mine is screaming at me right now. Do I make a change or keep on going?
I started raw on the 11th, so tomorrow will be one full week. Below is a list of the foods I ate yesterday, I try to keep a journal. Two smoothies during the day, and a salad for dinner. I’d say I’m mostly raw. I do love eating this way. The first thing for me is that it is so clean, makes it really hard to want to cook anything ever again. Eating cooked foods seems a bit disgusting to me right now.
But, I’m pretty miserable, and today we’re supposed to go out to lunch with family, I know I can eat a salad, but I don’t feel good.

Alissa doens't go into detail about how important Green Smoothies are in her book and I don't think there was even a reference in the DVD.
You need to get those blended leafy greens in your diet.
Get Victoria Boutenkos "Green for Life" and "12 Steps to Raw Foods"
I would not be able to be raw without blended greens.

Thanks Zella Juice, I have both of those books but have to get reading, started Green for Life last night. I am drinking a huge green smoothie every morning. Large amount of spinach fill the food processor to the top, a granny smith apple, a few beet tops, and maybe an orange or a kiwi....love them and thanks for your response.

So many thing can go on here. Have you thought of getting some blood test done?
Yes it could be detox, it could be also your emotions (emotions lead to more toxin in you), it could be a leaky guts. It could be also some food doesn't go well with you. Some don't do good with fruits but me i am the opposite, i need my fruits but i don't do well with nuts so i have to eat them in moderation.
Last year, being on raw i started severe allergies which i never had before and suddenly i was allergic to the pollenisation during august. I sticked to raw food and just made some adjustment and now i feel like brand new. I was detoxing big time. I try to eat in a way where i won't experience gaz, i had a lot of that last year and it made a huge difference for me. Nuts give me gaz, go figure, but i still eat them, just in moderation. I got pimple the next day when i eat nuts. Hemp seeds works good for me, avocado, vegetable juice and i definitely have my green smoothies every day.
It is a long process to detox your body because this is year and years of accumulation.
Get tested by someone that specialize, you will get more answer that way. To see if you are deficient or have allergy. Google also for guts that leak, it cans cause tremendous problem. It is said that therapetic enzyme will fix this and even fix many dammaged cell. Allissa sells them on her site.
Best wishes
ps. Here is some nice info that i found for leaky guts http://www.enzymestuff.com/conditionleakygut.htm

Thank you so much Raw Angel Mom, I believe I do have a leaky gut, I recently found out that I was gluten sensitive, and suffering from malabsorption. So do you think the raw diet is aggravating it or that it's just detox.
I had some recent blood work and it was pretty good except for a low WBC count. (?) I know I didn't have a virus at the time...probably nothing, will get it rechecked in a couple of months.
I ordered the Enzymes from Alissa, the Therapeutic Enzymes, and got them last night, I took my first dose this morning, thank you for mentioning that, that gives me hope. I started with a teaspoon, which is recommended for folks with more severe problems.
Does anyone know if anyone has posted about a leaky gut and healing on raw foods...would love to hear about that. I am going to stick with this diet, because it does resonate with me. It just feels so right, but was hoping someone could help with the other stuff.
Thank you kindly for your words, much appreciated, got to run to lunch now...:)

i have only read your original post as i don't have much time right now but...
i suggest you keep on with what you are doing. it sounds like your body is busy working... working hard... to toss out the bad stuff from your cells. supporting it by continuing with raw foods is essential for progress!
add in green smoothies if you are not already doing so. perhaps some nice freshly made juices... and even a 1 oz shot of wheatgrass (equivalent to 2.5 pounds of greens) here and there. i wouldn't do the wheatgrass daily yet... but eventually you could.
here's to HEALTH!!!

I suffered from malabsorption too. I use the past tense because in 18 days of raw I'm finally nourished. I had a baaad case of it. I was close to death. I stayed in bed the entire month of June-weak, low blood sugar. Had no energy. Simple things made me tired. My systems were in shock. I stuck with it and I ate as raw as possible through the month of June. I lived off smoothies, fruit juice and vegetable juices w/a few bland cooked foods. By July I went raw. I used stomach enzymes and superfoods and I'M ALIVE! My system is now doing the happy dance and it loves green smoothies. So easy to digest. I'm slowly getting my strength back. Not ready to run yet. Hope everything goes well.:)

I am no doctor but i read a lot about health. Raw food has its enzymes and so therefore make it easier to absorb. Maybe chew more, and give yourself some reasonnable time before going to the next meal to make sure the previously meal is digested. Therapeutic enzymes will help you no doubt. I felt much better after taking them and i will order more too especially after reading this. I recommend that you get the new book of Matt Monarch. He teaches about how to have better absortion, etc... Also if you google Dr. Ann Wingmore, you will find some good receipe about her healthy green soup. Allissa has receipes in her book i think.
Raw food is so much easier to digest, but make sure to chew very well.
You have great positive effect so this prove that you are on the right path.
I hope you figure it out soon!

Smoothiegirl, thank you!! Your story definitely is encouraging to me. I am so happy for you too. We don't appreciate our health until we lose it...:(
I have to say that I took 2 teaspoons of Alissa's Enzymes before going out to lunch, 1 when I got up and another just before going out, and I'm also taking some I got from Enzymedica, and my stomach feels great right now. WOW, thank you Alissa!! I was very bad at lunch though, I couldn't resist the creme brulee...omg...big quilty face! I cannot go out to restaurants....period!
I too have had problems with weakness, hair loss, low blood sugars, and at times it would take all of my energy to walk from one room to another, so I am grateful for feeling much better, the horrible fatigue that was like a heavy weight has lifted, so I should just SHUP, and proclaim my gratitude, but my stomach keeping me up at night and having to get up in the night to visit the br, has not been fun, my sleep has always been very important for me. The bone pain is gone too.
Which Superfoods did you use. I ordered some Hemp protein from Alissa too, do you think I should add that to my green drinks? Not sure how to work that in. Thank you again.
I really appreciate all of you taking the time to help me....:)

Thank you again Raw Angel Mom, I really appreciate that you took time out of your day to answer me. I will google both of those authors. I felt really awful as I said earlier but I took 2 teaspoons of Alissa's Therapeutic Enzymes a few hours apart and I feel great right now. I will definitely keep that up and stay with Raw...I know it's the better, healthier, cleaner, way to eat. I am looking forward to getting into my books.
Thanks for the reminder about chewing too....appreciate the support one and all.

Linda7276,
I use Dr. Schultz's superfoods. I think Alissa's site sells green powder too. Boy that stuff makes me bounce off the walls.:) My doctor gave it to me and the first dose I took my body screamed "Yes, Food!" I took it 6x a day at first. Now I'm down to 1 maybe 2 sometimes. I was so weak I needed it. My hair was extremely dry due to lack of minerals and vitamins. I had anxiety attacks and panic attacks and my hormones shot through the roof. Now they have quieted down a lot. There were days I didn't have energy to use the bathroom. I couldn't squeeze it out. I have bounced back and am on the mend purely by the grace of God. Let us know how your doing.:) I use the hemp seeds and avocados for fats to keep me satisfied. I used about 1/2 a day I couldn't handle a whole one. Now I may have to go to a whole one. My strength is returning and I get hungry. I found out that fruits and vegetables don't last very long. These help to sustain me. I detest avocados but my body craves them. Go figure! Not a big nut fan unless I soak them. Easier to digest. My body likes liquids right now. Oh Yea! I used enzymes to help my body absorb my foods and they worked wonderful. I'm off of them now-it funtions on its own. Took about 4-6 weeks. YEA RAW!!! It doesn't take very long for the body to begin to tell you what it wants. Mine screamed nutrition. Juiced and made smoothies. Now I'm ready to branch out and start making some dehydrated foods.

Aleesha, thank you, I am doing the smoothies, thanks, and I will continue too...I love them and I think you're right my body is working hard to detox. So it's a good thing. Just hard to cope, and then I wondered "hey, am I listening to my body, is it telling me something?" Maybe it's saying, "look how hard I have to work to undo all those years of bad eating".
I hate to sound whacked but 2 doses of those Therapeutic Enzymes and all the bone pain left...wow...that's amazing, I think that's what was getting to me this morning, it hurt to move. I feel tired too, Even some stubborn pain in my low back is gone, is it possible for them to work that fast? I swear it's true, no exaggeration!! And I feel more encouraged by everyone's words, thank you all.
The wheatgrass, where do I get that? I got my Champion Juicer today too, do you juice your leafy greens in there? Can I make my spinach smoothie in it, with an orange and a green apple, gonna have that for dinner. I read somewhere on here that you CANNOT do leafy greens in it....WHAT?
And what about Coconuts in the juicer, have you done that?
Smoothiegirl, thank you again, I'm so glad to read of your recovery,:D and hope you continue until you're 100%, I feel sure that I will. I am amazed at how fast those Enzymes are working...I will be ordering them again, no doubt!!! I'll check on the Superfoods that you mention....what I like about Alissa's is that they contain a huge amount of probiotics too. I am also loading up on them right now...I think it's all working together, thank you!!
I love avocado's, maybe you're body is asking for fats. Do you use Coconut Oil at all or coconuts? I love them too so no problem for me to add them to my diet...sometimes I add Coconut Oil to my fruit smoothies. YUM!!

Yes my body does need fats.:) Hmmm-probably never convince anybody I lost 12 pounds eating 1/2 avocado a day. YEA RAW! The probiotics would be a good thing. I do know that if we have poor digestion it stresses the body bad.:)
