I hope there isn't a similar thread, but, I apologize in advance if there is!

I thought it would be fun to list our own methods for staying motivated. Anything goes, whether it's a beautiful picture, or a song, or a quote or story that you can share...;)

My methods may be highly bizarre, but i'm a weird girl, hehe.
Here are mine~

-- I like to pretend I'm stranded on an island and there's nothing but fresh, bountiful and beautful fruits awaiting me. (you can blame LOST for this one)
That left over pizza you see there ? NONEXISTENT...

--Everytime I get a craving, I'll remember a segment from Don Francisco (popular spanish show) that aired last night featuring a young girl who will be studying at a University. She is completely blind and deaf. I find it very empowering and for some reason, it makes me feel invincible, as well. Basically my thought process is: If she can overcome her disability, I can overcome my cravings. I know it doesn't even compare ..Not one bit. She is a VERY amazing person (and really, anyone that has overcome their unique differences) which is why I'll forever remember her when I need to be strong.

--Dance your evil food thoughts away! Play some Elvis (I love lovelooove "Devil in Disguise" ) and it's exhilarating, too.

So tell me your motivational methods? Let's make this fun and creative :) :) :) !

My motivation is wanting to feel good all of the time. When I was eating SAD I felt SAD all of the time 100% of the time. So my motivation is feeing full of energy and full of life.

My other motivation is I like who I am when I am raw, confident, open, loving and just ready to get things done. I want to help people and I cant' do that eating SAD foods.

My last motivation is loving myself, loving me and that means putting what I feel to be the best foods in my body and this also covers other aspects of my life, like keeping my house clean, things like that.

...I want the feeling of energy and clarity and "the glow."

It seems that -- in a world filled with compounded negativity -- raw is the perfect "anti-negative" way to go -- and it becomes easier to deal with the negative nellies....

...also -- for vanity purposes -- I want to look better and be able to wear my nice clothes...:-)

My motivation is being able to concentrate on my job, stay organized, not be stressed out -- from my life so far, the only way I can do this is to a/ be close to 100% the vast majority of the time or b/ go to a doctor every month to get prescribed ADHD medications that I take twice every day.

Plus I just feel so friggin' good and happy eating raw food! :)

And geez -- of course -- my stomach! I had an ulcer and all sorts of digestive issues off and on from age 19 or so... but everything just works eating raw. I have gone back to the "other side" before, and it is not pretty! Right back to square 1.

Being able to eat until I'm full while still fitting into a size 3 petite! Hopefully...I will be back to that size very soon...as I have found new motivation to get back to 100%!

Health is my biggest motivation, because health is beautiful.

My motivation:
Stay far away from the doctors (except dentist which I find inevitable at this point of my life and with my dental challenges), age gracefully without any pain and not live like many AARP folks do depending on meds. Oh, looking young forever and being able to exercise to maintain utmost health.

I found falling off the raw wagon a few times helped with motivation. A stodgy veggie lasange or something bready would just remind me how stuffed up that stuff makes you feel.

Now I'm not even tempted.

Yes, HEALTH & happiness from eating raw.

most definitely! I know I've felt happier since eating this way and even had a random moment where I felt utterly in ecstasy, I was actually in tears from joy--nothing provoked it and when I tell someone about it they think I'm a little nuts, haha. Understandable I guess. Even I find it unusual (but awesome..this must be what people on drugs feel except without all the negative side effects!)

I think we all do it for health because there's nothing better than living life to the fullest. Though sometimes even that major factor doesn't keep some of us (especially newbies such as myself) from indulging on a bagel when starting on the Rawness.. It's certainly been challenging for me to give up starches.. This is why I'll try to think of silly ways to stay motivated and make it fun at the same time :)

My motivation is to become the healthiest I can become, and to be able to walk again! I do believe that losing the weight (now at 179 down from 224!) I have eating the raw foods has made me healthier than ever. Now, I am working more towards overcoming all the detrimental effects from my stroke and walk again. I am studying meditation and other modalities in my quest to find what will work to regain my balance and being able to walk again!

My motivation is thinking of being free from the addiction of junk food.

I have struggled so long with my weight and it comes with a lot of shame. As an addict to food, trying to hide ice cream that I bought. Eating the whole carton of cake or chips or whatever.

I think everyday how I am no longer ashamed. I am really trying to eat healthily for myself because I deserve to be. I deserve to be burden free.

Eating raw is helping me to realize that. That is what keeps me motivated.

My motivation is wanting desperately to inspire my friends to choose HEALTH and PEACE over SAD food and the many diseases and disorders and discontentment that comes from eating poorly... :)

I also find that I just feel more ALIVE when I'm eating raw foods, and that cravings for things like oranges, avacados, Mudslides (Alissa's recipe - muahahah), etc. make me feel HAPPY instead of DEPRESSED (like cravings for pasta and breaded stuff, etc, used to leave me feeling!)

I also always feel LIGHT and PEACEFUL after eating RAW... my feelings about food, life, spirituality, myself, others, etc... are all better, more grounded, stabler, more JOYFUL when I'm eating RAW!!!

It seems like there are two kinds of motivation being discussed here:

(1) motivation to stay raw in face of temptation, and
(2) why eating raw in the first place.

My answers are

(1) the raw challenge. I committed to eating raw in July, so I won't even revisit the issue until August 1.
(2) I'd like to lose fat, feel good, and be healthy.

I disagree... many of us are eating this way for HEALTH! (unless that's what you mean by point #2)

Well, those were my personal answers, so I'm not sure what's to disagree with. And yes, I'm motivated to eat this way for health.

Best regards,

My motivation is my continued health and joy in life that I get from staying raw. I know that all my health problems (fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, IBS, depression, anxiety, etc..) would come back if I went back to cooked.

When I first went raw looking at raw before and after pics and reading the testimonials and healing stories of other raw foodists REALLY helped motivate me. I would look at them everyday online.

Remember that nothing tastes as good as raw feels!

Blessings,

Audrey

being in good enough health and shape to build my own home, and being ready to throw myself into eating my own home grown food and living off the grid without a painful detox/craving/transition period - its just gonna be seamless. :)

(originally my motivation was to not be obese, depressed, anxious, exhausted, moody and in pain all the time. :))

Hey Guys,

All very good answers :) , but mind is a) I honestly feel better when I do and B) I work at a doctors office that alone motivates me. It is sad how thick these people's charts are and how unhealthy they are. Also, all the medications they are on. The coverage people have for medications is not the greatest and people can not afford them because medications are very expensive. So having a healthy lifestyle will keep me away from that.
