Hello - me again - the long term fatigued 100% raw foodist....I noticed today that when I drink water (no matter what kind...distilled, alkalinized, etc) my level of fatigue gets a bit worse. Anybody have experience with that?

I have to empathize with you about the water. I hate it ,the taste, smell and it's always plain over here since not drinking any KoolAid or flavoring in mine. stinks.. :(

Sorry, I don't know anything about that either.. but I do notice that after I drink water, I get very, very cold! Like shivering, covered in goosebumps cold. And drink my water at room temp to try to avoid it but it doesn't matter, it always happens. So you aren't totally alone with your water frustrations :)

I am wondering if it has something to do with alkalinity and electrolytes....

Did you ever decide to get some type of testing?

If you drink too much water in one sitting, no matter your diet, you will feel fatigued.
Also, take a look at your diet and make sure you're not missing any major nutrients.

What kind of water are you driinking? It shouldn't have a taste or a smell. I generally only drink R.O. water. I started this after I had a hair analysis done and discovered that I had high levels are arsenic. Aparently AZ water has a lot of arsenic and if you drink a lot of tab water you get it. Also, some people like a little lemon in their water.

I second the lemon in the water. I would also recommend adding a pinch of seasalt. This will help to remineralize the water. You should be able to find more information at watercure.com. This site is dedicated to information regarding water and its effects on health. Hope this helps.

Thanks for all the great input.
Just to clarify...the water tastes fine...I just get wiped out after drinking a cup or so sometimes...

The lemon is not just to help with the taste. It also helps to condition the water. I don't remember exactly what it does to the water but it is supposed to improve its use by the body when consumed.

Yes - lemon is great for alkalizing and cleansing the liver. I was replying to Vaclare's response about taste...my issue is not taste...

Hmmm.....puzzled on this one. What quality of water are you drinking? I'm blessed with rural Oregon well water put through a carbon filter. How does yours compare?
Perhaps it's a latent detox effect?
Are you drinking much at once? I practice something I learned when I studied macrobiotics. I was especially doing this on a recent camping trip. I kept each swallow of water in my mouth swishing it around to activate saliva enzymes so that my body could absorb as much of it as possible without drowning my kidneys. Resonate with you any?

Hi Stina -
it doesn't seem to matter whether the water is RO, filtered, distilled, alkaline, etc. I have been raw 5 years and don't think it is detox. I think sometimes too much is attributed to detox when it is actually something else.
I will try the swishing. Thanks!

Is it pure water (RO, distilled, etc.)? Apparently pure water can cause the minetals to be leached out of your body, and has more of a tendency of going straight through the body rather than hydrating you.
I have a 6 stage under sink filter, including reverse osmosis and demineralization stages, and I fill the 5 gallon bottles for my water cooler with this water, and add 1/2 teaspoon of himalayan salt to the 5 gallons which remineralizes the water to about 125 parts per milliion (the filter came with a digital water tester).
If your water is pure, try adding just a bit of either Celtic or Himalayan salt, not enough for it to taste salty, but enough to add minerals.

Okay, so here I go beating the drum again about detoxing but I was just reading Matt Monarch who was beating the drum again about detoxing and the importance of......drum roll please!- colon hydrotherapy. Have you read what he says about the problem of raw vegans experiencing cellular gas as a result of detoxing; he cites some doctor's research on it. I personally don't underrate how significant detoxing is.

Hi Stina - I just posted about that concept over at http://rawfoodtalk.com/newreply.php?do=newreply&noquote=1&p=419364

I make sure to space my water out over my day-2 glasses w breakfast, 2 w lunch, 2 w dinner and a few here and there, which seems to help me.
When I get to feeling "yuck" about water, I may add a few slices of fresh fruit or veggies like cucumber-and it helps...it looks pretty and refreshing, almost spa like....mind over matter for me sometimes!

I agree with iamacranberry...you are probably drinking too much water. there is a delicate balance between enough and too much. you could be flooding your system with water and that is a bad thing. Stick to 64 ounces a day drinking between meals.
Hope that helps. Also consult a nutritionist if you can about it as well.
