I have read that raw almonds should be submerged in water for 24 hours before they are eaten. Is this true?
Does the same apply for raw sunflower kernels?
Any replies are appreciated.

It's a good idea to soak almonds for at least 12 hours. If you're going 24 hours, you might wish to rinse and refill a couple of times.
Not necessary to soak sunflower seeds.
Suggestion: Get a copy of Alissa's book and dvd's. They'll answer all your questions on nuts and seeds.

Keep meaning to ask, what about raw pumpkin seeds? Is it necessary/recommended for whatever it is soaking does (releases enzyme inhibitors?)

Soaking and rinsing nuts and seeds softens them, and improves their digestability. I prefer them that way, with the exception of cashews and macadamias.

I checked out that site: http://www.raw-food-living.com/soaking-nuts.html
Did not realize the nut or seed has to actually begin sprouting before you can eat it.
Seems like a lot of preparation. I was just eating the raw sunflower seeds out of the bag.
