I have noticed since starting the transition to raw that my bowels only move once a day, if at all.
Fortunately when they do I am not constipated..everything flows nicely...it's just very infrequent. Is this due to taking in more nutritious food? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

yep.. same goes for me... i only go once a day... every morning when i get up.. after downing my HUGE glass of water and taking my probiotics!
sometimes.. and only SOMETIMES when im lucky i'll go again during the day.. but it will only be very small.
like you.. im not constipated...everything flows nicely and isnt hard in the least bit..
i only have this when im 100% raw...
which im not anymore..
ive added back some cooked " grains " like quinoa.. and the occasionally some brown rice noodles.. and my digestion is doing much better again.. so is my bloating .... my stomach is nice and flat again... even tho i havent changed anything in my ways of eating besides adding back these things into my diet.
i did a year 100%.. and have just found its not right for me :)
i personally dont think there is a problem if you can go easily each day!

I imagine every person is different. Perhaps when you're 100%, it will change again. I have to say I am the exact opposite. I go every time I eat more than a few ounces of food.

I have done alot of research in this area and I have found that normal is really about 30 minutes after you eat a main meal. For most people that would be 3 times a day. Many of the native cultures who eat mostly raw veggies fruits and pure diets off the land have bowl movements in this way. About 30 minutes after eating they go to the restroom if you will. You should go easily without straining and it should be of ample size and light brown in color or green if you are eating alot of greens. But it should be routine. I found afer being raw for about 3 months I was able to obtain this for myself. And I had had severe IBS with constipation for about 14 years straight. So anyway one of the ways that I helped this along also is by doing several fasts and cleases and some colonics. You may want to look into these other ways to help clean your bowels as well. But be sure to really do your research before you take on these types of things. You want to make sure that you know what you are doing and have guidance where appropriate as cleanses and fasts can be really intense.

Thanks Lisa, Autumn et al. I just found the reduced frequency a little odd...but as I say all flows well...just less! Thanks again,

It might just be a transition thing. When I first went raw I was constipated too, but now (six months later) I go about 3 times a day.

Lisa,
Very interesting suggestion on the subject that most people are avoiding. 90% of human illnesses come from the putrefied and polluted colon. That was Max Gersons observation.
I did not had constipation problem before raw. Being raw for 2 years, I have one voluminous per day in the early morning. 3 times a day that you achieved is great. I would suggest everybody regardless of their conditions to clean the colon and continue with regular once a week enemas.
It seems that constipation is more popular with women than men are.
