Hello all,
I'm starting this new lifestyle because for the past 10 years I have struggled with my weight. And the truth is I am too young, 22, to be this unhappy. I got Alissa's book today and read for two hours straight till I got to the end. I loved the honesty and determination that was evident in every sentence. Do i think this is going to be easy? Hell no, but for the first time in a very long time I am willing to take the terrifying step and make a change in my life. I am tired of this huge belly, and the fat on my legs and back and arms. I am tired of being sad all the time and being unable to go out and enjoy an hour of excersize. Usually I am very quiet and closed up, because I value my privacy and like doing things on my own. But I think this time, I would like to share my experiences, my fears, my triumphs because I hope a supporrt network will take me farther than my last attempts at being healthier. Anyways, just wanted to say thanks to Alissa and this forum, thank you for writing this book and reminding me that I have the courage and common sense to do something that is so right and so healthy :)

Hey, Browneyedgirl, you came to the right place! & you do sound like you ARE ready! I so wish I'd found raw at your age!
Please go read the post I just posted called "Re-The 30 day Challenge" & see what RAW is doing for me, then come jump on in, or prepare for joining the challenge for the first of August! (But you really don't need to wait!)
Accountability is one of the keys to being able to stick to it, & follow through, & I know many others find this to be true...I understand valuing your privacy, & doing things on your own, but let us be here for you, & help you along the way...
Green smoothies are also extremely beneficial in order to get past cravings, meet caloric needs, digest foods easier (we don't always absorb all the nutrients in our food when we've been eating SAD, blending really makes them much easier to absorb, which is why cravings then lessen!) & read LOTS!
Actually, I made this site my homepage, so every time I go on the computer, there it is, & even if I don't check in & read the latests posts (though I usually do!) it really does help me stay on track!
So, all this is just to say, "Welcome!" & "You CAN do it!!!"
Go check out the before & after posts for inspiration, read them when you're tempted to break raw, & Check out Aleesha, she released 130+ lbs in TEN MONTHS with RAW!!!! It really does work!!!

Welcome to you! I'm new here, as well, and new to the whole RAW lifestyle so perhaps we can take this journey together! I, too, wish I had known about it at your age but I feel it's never too late to start on the path to good health and happiness.
I am you...only 10 years later. I have battled with my weight on and off my whole life and yes, it kept me from doing a lot with friends just out of being self-conscious. Granted, as I got older, it didn't bother me quite as much once I got out of that caring what everyone else thought stage ;) And looking back, I know I worried about it a lot more than anyone else did anyway...hehe.
But take heart, we all have our own journeys to take in life that take us through difficult times...but there are always wonderful things that come out of it all in the end. And there are amazing people you meet along the way to help you through. I have not been here long but I can already feel the love, compassion, support and camaraderie from the people here. I feel blessed that you and I have both found this family!
