My most common and favorite raw meal since a few months are milkshakes (about 1 cup water, 1 cup strawberries, 2/3 cup macadamia nuts, 1 T coconut oil, 2-4 T agave, salt). This makes them about 1000 calories.
I noticed my weight seemed to have stopped increasing since a few weeks and noticed one change in my diet was that I switched from recipes based on walnuts, which have as much protein as read meat, to these milkshakes with macadamia nuts which are almost only pure fat with very little protein.
I'm a little sick of the walnut recipes I was making, but I had this great idea: make my smoothies with walnuts! Not only are they half the price, they have tons more protein, so this should allow me to gain more muscle mass and lower my grocery cost, as I bought tons and tons of macadamias, they are my #1 source of calories. I thought it may taste weird with walnuts but there's barely any difference at all.

Wow, thanks for the tip, everything is going up in price so this is very helpful.
Nuts are so expensive, cashews and mac and pine nuts:eek:
Thanks for posting the info:D

Thank you for that idea! It sounds great. I can't afford the very expensive nuts, so this is something I will try!:)

For those of you who think nuts are expensive, please see this other post I made:

The reality is, nuts are pretty much the cheapest of all foods, they only have the illusion of being expensive as that posts explains.

"Walnuts have some strong nutritional tenets, not the least of which is a healthy dose of omega-3 fatty acids. This type of fat can help prevent arrhythmia of the heart and can improve the ratio of HDL and LDL cholesterol. Other compounds found in walnuts may help lower the danger of LDL cholesterol by decreasing free radical damage to the LDL lipoprotein.
Walnuts are also high in the amino acid l-arginine. In the human body l-arginine is converted to nitric oxide, which helps keep inner walls of blood vessels smooth and also allows them to relax better. This means lower risk for plaque formation and the clogging of arteries, as well as decreased risk for high blood pressure problems."

I didn't know all that, thanks Apasaraw.
This got me thinking, do other nuts also have omega 3's?

Lecithin is made from soy right? I wonder if something like Irish Moss would accomplish the same sort of creaminess...(I am supposed to stay away from soy products...)
Does anyone know? Or maybe flour made from chia seeds or flax?

Walnuts have done wonders for Dh's arterial walls! He used to suffer from arterial spasms that actually gave him a heart attack. Now he eats a cup of fresh blueberries and 1/2 cup of raw walnuts every morning. Thanks for the tip!

Cabosun, that is awesome news about the berries and nuts helping our DH! Hope he is very well!
You know I have seen Irish Moss in recipes, Raw Drop and I wondered about it. I think you're right about it making the texture of things creamy...let us know if you try it.
All nuts have Omega 3sand 6s, but they also have their aminos and mineral traces that are unique. Here's a chart: http://www.annecollins.com/dietary-fat/omega-3-efa-6-chart.htm

Firstly I'm curious how we got on the subject of lecithin? It was not mentioned in this post until you mentioned it here.
There is no lecithin in my milkshakes, it is the walnuts (or macadamias) that make it creamy. Soy is also very unhealthy for everyone except for soy sauce and miso which are less bad.
