Hi there from Plano, Texas :)

I have been poking around online for several months looking at food alternatives because something in my body just told me my old ways weren't right...for being young, I shouldn't be feeling so old...hehe.

I honestly had never even heard of a RAW food diet...I was surfing around from place to place and stumbled upon the Master Cleanse diet which led me to this site. I was thrilled as I read more and more of your stories!

I have spent a while lurking and reading...and researching more and more about this eating lifestyle and KNOW it's for me. I decided to begin by going on the Master Cleanse because I wanted to start fresh...clearing out the toxins that have built up in my body over the last 30+ years :p I went to the store and purchased the Master Cleanse booklet along with all the supplies I needed to begin. I'm on day two so far and learned two things...first, I miss coffee...lol. The headache I had by the end of last night finally sunk my boat and I had to go pass out at 8pm just to make the pain (and world!) go away. And second, too much cayenne pepper isn't my friend...doh! I think today I shall be using about half the amount as I would like to leave my taste buds and everything on the way down intact...hehe.

Anyway, I just wanted to say hello and that I very much look forward to getting to know many of you on this journey. Here's to all of us for deciding to do our bodies good! Cheers! /holds up *another* glass of lemonade :D

By the way, I will be ordering Alissa's book and DVD but are there other good resources for TOTAL beginners into this lifestyle I should know about? Thanks in advance!

I have 6 or 8 books on raw and Alissa's is by far my favorite. It's like the Joy of Cooking for raw. She has so much more than recipes, and the recipes are reliable and GREAT!

Besides books, I've had fun watching videos on youtube, etc. Easy to do searches for them.

Alissa's book is the most user friendly book out there, but there are a couple other good ones. Gabriel Cousins' book Consious Eating explains the raw food diet from every possible medical perspective (Chinese, Ayervedic (sp?), etc.) and includes recipes. Also, I just bought a book called Rawsome. I haven't tried any the recipes yet, but they look promissing.

Welcome! Love your username. You'll likely get a number of suggestions for raw instruction and resources in response to your post. Although I've got 20 books on this topic, Alissa's book covers just about all the raw bases. Good luck! :D

Thank you all for the very kind welcome! And thank you very much for the resources you offered to start me on my new path to being RAWesome :D

I guess I shall start with Alissa's book and DVD and go from there since it seems to be one of the best starts in a majority of opinions. Thanks again to all. I look forward to getting to know you all and offering my thoughts on my journey along the way!
