Have been suffering with lower back pain for months (moved around some heavy antique furniture by myself). Anyway, I was just diagnosed with compressed discs. Am actively searching for a used inversion table which I understand helps relieve pressure on the area. I alsio have the opportunity to purchase a used Far Infrared Sauna by HealthMate at a pretty good price. This is supposed to really help with detox.
In checking the heating elements between manufacturers, there seems to be conflicting information on what is best. Anyone out there have a HealthMate sauna or another model that really did the job? Any input is most welcome.
Thanks
Kathy

I just bought an inversion table from someone who listed it on E-Bay. Thankfully, they lived relatively close by so I was able to pick it up instead of trying to have it shipped. Anyways, I really like the one I purchased. It is made by Reebok and is not collapsible but that gave me a sense of safety as far as stabilty went. There are collapsible units out there that I am sure are great machines and are very stable but for me I prefered one that was 'solid'. If space is a consideration, make sure to check out various models in the stores that you are considering and make sure you get at least a little bit of a warm fuzzy feeling regarding its stability. I for one would not want to be trying to unfasten myself from one after it tips over while in use. This one also has an adjustment knob to reduce/increase the amount of rotation it will allow in case you do not need or want to go totally upside down. I would recommend this feature, especially if you already have back issues or other issues that might require you to work your way up to a full inversion. I would recommend checking out some of the videos on youtube.com after typing 'inversion table' into the search engine. You should get some idea of what it's like to be on one, what you can do while on one, what the advantages/disadvantages various models have and the various features included.
I can't give you much info on the far infrared saunas except to say I would love to have one of those as well. I will say though that you will probably be able to find a good used inversion table easier than finding a good used far infrared sauna. If you come across a good quality sauna at a good price, I would suggest purchasing that first. The inversion tables will be around when you are ready to get one. Hope this helps.

I have tried and enjoy Viagen Medical heated beds with rollers. I found it great without any problems but looking at prevention. I keep forgetting that I should go back to the place and use their beds for my behind the knee ach that I can't describe. It could be my sciata nerve that is triggering it. I can't say but my friend's EX b/f is a chiro and may work a deal out for an xray. I already have a chiro for over 25 years who doesn't have xray machine sadly. I need to start using MSM too.
I wish you the best for your back pain.
How about exercises like Yoga. I have seen lots of books on Back Pain healings........I may have one here and if so will post book name. Regardless feel GREAT. How about Pilates on Reformer which is not heat related however but great stretching?

Thank you all so much for the input. I am going to look at a used infrared sauna on Saturday and have contacted a friend who knows a lot about the inversion tables. Maybe I can coax him to come along for the expert opinion.
The constant, never ending discomfort is a motivating force to begin improvements in many arenas.
Thanks again and, as always, open to ideas and experiences.
To health and happiness.

I have a portable Far Infrared Sauna. Got it for $199 on ebay about two years ago and I LOVE IT!
