HI! I've been on and off raw for over a year now, and am now committed to do it forever. What is the best raw plan for maximum weight loss without getting saggy skin? Ever since I made raw lasange I feel like my loss has slowed. It's very frustrating because the 150-160 zone always seems to be where I get stuck physically or emotionally and end up giving up (though I msut say I haven't been over 180 in 4 years, my highest was 215 in 2004). Any suggestions? I don't mind eating very little, I feel like I'm not really that hungry usually... does this mean my metabolism is out of whack?
Lotsa luv!!

Just go raw :) . Tweak your diet in 6 months if you need to . . . you probably won't need to.
Also, check out www.lovingraw.com . He lost 200 pounds with minimal saggy skin, just by going raw.
If you are feeling stuck around 150-160, it probably isn't from raw lasagna, but because you always get stuck around there. Release your emotions surrounding that weight and you will probably release the weight, too!
Many blessings!

I did an interview with Philip and one of the questions I asked was about flabby skin. You'll find it here: http://rawkinradio.com/.

I have lost 50 pounds in 6 months with no ill effects. My weight loss is slowing way down now. I have about 25 more to lose. In my experience, I don't get to choose how quickly I lose the weight. I feed myself only high quality all raw foods and my body releases the weight as it is ready and able.

Hey, aleesha, did you do much exercise? I'd love to know the rate at which you let the pounds go, I'll go look at your blog & see what I can learn!
That's my goal, to let it go fast & get stronger by the day!

Thanks for all of the great advice. I guess it's the old me talking when I get frustrated that I'm not losing weight fast enough and I blame the food. i've only been raw for 18 days now (this cycle of vegan raw) and I've lost about 10 pounds. I should not be complaining, I just need to trust my body. I'm always afraid that one day I'll just start gaining weight and nothing short of fasting will stop it. Totally unreasonable I know, but that's the weight'loss demon rearing its ugly head. I'm going to try to trust my body, because I'm really loving being raw as I have every time I do the 30 day challenge! Everyone here is such an inspiration..
I should post a couple of before photos (from before my first vegan raw experience)... how do you do that? I'm not ready to take afters yet.. my headshot on my profile is a good preview.

You've gotten such great advice. Just eat raw and be consistent with eating raw. Don't try to rush the weight loss by eating too little calories and/or fat. Losing weight too quickly is what causes sagging skin, as you probably already know. Not to mention, eating too little is very unhealthy for you (your body and mind will not function properly). Just eat raw; eat as much as you need to feel satisfied. The weight loss will happen (you've gotten great results already). Very few people fail to lose weight by eating this way. Also, make sure you exercise. Do regular cardio at least 3 times a week for at least 30 minutes each time. Weight training is also really good because it builds lean muscle mass. Lean muscle mass burns a lot of calories even while you sleep because muscle requires a lot of calories everyday just to stay alive. I'd say to weight train at least 2-3 times a week (lean muscle does weigh more than fat so it may not seem like you're losing as much weight as you want, but you will be losing fat and inches because muscle takes up less space. Pay attention to how your clothes fit, not just the number on the scale). Switch up your exercise routines so your body doesn't get used to one thing because you're weight loss is more likely to plateau. But I guess I should mention that one's weight loss does slow the closer they get to his or her goal weight. It's just a natural occurrence. It's a way that your body protects you from getting too thin to easily (it's a genetic thing our ancestors developed millions of years ago when food was more difficult to obtain). It's not your fault. It just means you have to burn more calories everyday to continue to lose weight. But remember to think about your muscle to fat ratio. Muscle weighs a lot more than fat, as it is much denser. Don't just work towards a goal weight because it sounds good to you. Maybe have a realistic goal dress size instead of a goal weight.
Note: be safe about all the exercise that you do, especially weight training. Make sure you're using the right form. There are great videos out there, if you don't own some already.
Good luck and don't give up!!!! You'll get to where you want to be :)

OK. I understand what you are going through. I want to be at my goal weight tomorrow!!!! LOL!
I recently went to the doctor, and told her what I was doing, and how happy I am with my results. She shot down every positive thing that I said raw did for me. Instead of telling me keep up the good work, she told me I should be on Weight Watchers. I told her the 3 times that I tried it; it did not work for me. I have PCOS, which makes it difficult for me to lose weight to begin with, so any type of loss is positive for me. She is a new doctor, but it made me so mad that she would not listen when I told her how I this way of eating was helping me. I just smiled and realized that she will only see me once a year for my women check up!
My weight loss has not been drastic. I officially started being 100% raw 4/18/08 and my weight was 255. I wore a size 22-20 (20's were tight). Now I can wear a size 16. Although I have only lost about 20 lbs, I think going from a 22 to a 16 is progress. I am losing inches all over. I do not have sagging. I work 2 jobs, and I have not started my exercise program. I know once I am doing cardio, and resistance, I will see greater results.
Everyone is different, but focus on how you look in your clothes, and not the scale. I do not think it is a quick way to lose weight. I think you body release weight when it is ready. You can try to get a colonic to see if that will take off some of 5 - 10 pounds, but I do not think you can rush the process.
I know I went on a tangent, but I hope this helps you understand that we are all different.
