So I made a delicious smoothie today - strawberries, blackberries, blueberries, coconut meat, and a banana. And I ruined it by putting a packet of 'Macro Greens' in it. I suppose I was 'improving' it, but I really killed the taste. Any advice on how to get these green superfoods into my diet? Is it an acquired taste? Can I just take capsules? I can't believe something so good for you can taste so horrendous.

wow! I find that surprising. I adore macro greens and can drink it mixed only with water!
but to each their own :p
have you tried making a fruit smoothie and just throwing in a handful of baby spinach? It's a very mild green and you shouldn't be able to taste it

Yes, I think starting w/ baby spinach is a good way to go. Start w/ more fruit and less greens. I now use a lot of greens and much less fruit. I am starting to like the green taste.
I accustomed myself to greens by mixing Pure Synergy green powder w/ juice and gradually decreased the amount of juice I used (from 1 cup to just barely enough to mix the powder in) and now I just do smoothies. I didn't do it with the intention of getting used to greens it just evolved that way.
Their website is http://www.thesynergycompany.com It's raw, too.
Best of luck!

Oh my SO many recipes! I have a thing about drinking my veggies, a mental block. Tomato soup, V8, carrot juice, etc all make me gag. I guess I just need to get over it! This macro green stuff was too potent to just start out with I think.

I don't think that greens mix with every fruit, but to each his own and what may be good food combining for some may disagree with others. My favorite is apple, but recently I've cut the green smoothies altogether and just put my greens and veggies into the food processor and made green pate with them, then topped them with ground nuts.
I really particularly dislike putting green powder in green smoothies, and I LOVE greens -- I have even enjoyed a no-fruit green concoction on occasion! IFF I use the powders, it's usually in a pinch and just mixed with water. I can't quite get into those for my green smoothies, although some swear by them.
I have found that buying fresh fruit that is organic (or if not possible, that's okay!), then freezing it, to be really helpful for the fruit in the green smoothies. Otherwise, it gets sort of heated and changes the taste. And fruit seems to become sweeter when frozen.
Especially my first year or so making green smoothies, the KEY was having lovely, ripe, frozen bananas always on hand. One of my faves was frozen bananas with orange and some greens or with pineapple/mango/papaya in place of the orange. Mmmmm. I love the tropical goodies, but for the sake of ease, I would limit my number of ingredients on an average day to just 3 (banana, greens, something else). When you get too crazy in the beginning, it's easy to make 5 lovely, tasty things add up to some really nasty concoction!
Of course, lately, I just toss it in with nothing frozen because I have a little eeney weeney freezer and am not even really sure if the thing works! I am also making an effort to eat locally as much as possible, so rather than bananas and pineapples, I'm using plums, peaches, blueberries, blackberries, etc. for the fruit part. OR making a savory smoothie with tomatoes instead of the sweeter fruits. But that's just me, just at this time.
I hope some of this is helpful. :)

In her book, Sarma had a great suggestion. Make your smoothie just the way you like it, then pour most of it into a glass and save some in the blender. Add all your supplements, greens, etc to the portion in the blender and drink that first. It may not be pleasant but once you have that down you can enjoy the glass of the smoothie you like at your pleasure.

What I have done in the past is to pour a big glass of the smoothie, saving just a little bit to blend with the greens. I drink up the small, green smoothie, because I know it's good for me. Then, I get to enjoy the big, delicious smoothie. Yours does look delightful.

I agree that baby spinach is the best to start out with. It sits well on my stomach and doesn't have a strong taste. I got into some different greens and oooh they were bad. Bitter. So I went back to spinach. It mixes up well too.
