Hi my name is Sheri and I'm new to the raw diet. It was recommended to me by a nurse friend of mine. Started weight watchers about 9 weeks ago and it has been successful as far as losing weight but want to start more of a wellness program.

Started reading about the raw diet about 2 weeks ago. Got a few books including Alissas. Last night I bought a juicer to start. Today I started juicing and go from there. Made the green lemonade ..... to be honest I found it yucky. Any recommendations on how to get started?

Thank you

Sheri

How to get started? READ, READ, & READ some more!

& don't be afraid to try new things more than once, your taste buds may take a little time to catch up...what tastes yucky at first will be yummylicious to you in awhile, no doubt! (As many here can attest to!)

Also, cut recipes in half or a quarter, even, before you try them, (especially if the ingredients are unfamiliar to you, so you won't waste a bunch of expensive ingredients before you know if you'll like it or not...& don't be afraid to tweak them, or leave out ingredients you don't like, or don't have! & sunflower seeds can be substituted for more expensive nuts in MOST recipes!

And take your measurements now, as you're getting started...they often change (even a LOT!) before the scale moves a whole lot! (I love your attitude, by the way! Weight loss does NOT = wellness, & BOTH are important! That's an excellent place to start from!)

Welcome, glad you're here with us, just jump on in, the water's fine!

Sheri, I started 7/1 with the plan in Alissa's book. I shop and do food prep twice a week. Just identify the recipes you're gonna make, write down the ingredients you don't already have, and head to the store.

This familiarizes you with a variety of raw foods and ensures that you don't feel starved.

Best,

Susan

Thanks Saxmaam. I can't wait to try some of her recipes. Trying to get my adult son into this so I sent him Alissas site. He made me cringe last night when I talked to him and he said he went to McDonalds for dinner.
