I have a five year old vitamix. I'm not sure if it is covered by warentee. Anyway, I lost the tamper to my vitamix, so I tried using a metal spoon instead. The spoon got caught in the blades and now the vitamix isn't working. I put the container on, turn the blender on, and nothing happens but a weird grinding noise. I'm very sad :( :( . I love my vitamix. When I turn the blender on without the container, the part that turns the blades spins slowly and lopsidedly.
What should I do? Will vitamix repair/replace my blender if I mail it to them? Has anyone fixed such a problem on their own? HELP!!!! I need my blender   !

Try giving the Vitamix Corp a call directly...they will help you. I've heard many stories of vitamix coming through to help customers. They probably just need the serial number. :)

Call Vita-Mix & talk to a customer service rep..

A new carafe isn't cheap, but it's a lot less than a new blender..

The new Tritan co-polyester carafes have less out-gassing that the plastic used in the older style carafes..

Good luck!!

When I got my vitamix, it came with a 7 year warranty. So I'd take a chance and contact them. However, using a metal spoon isn't exactly an authorized procedure... so I wouldn't hold your breath. BUT - who knows, you could get lucky.

GOOD LUCK!

My goodness gracious... I'm really sorry to hear that. I'd be so upset I'd most likely cry if I broke mine. I'm sorry. I hope they help ya out!

The warranty is seven years and they have an excellent customer service department...one of the great reasons for owning one. I don't know if your putting the spoon in their will void your warrenty but you have nothing to lose by asking them..wishing you the best.

OK, so I just spoke with a woman from vitamix. She was very nice. My vitamix is still under warentee, but because it was my error to use the spoon, I will need to pay for repairs. I need to order a new drive socket and a new wet blade assembly. These will cost me $102 . It's not so bad, but still kind of dissappointing. I'm going to order them today so that they will come in by the time I leave for college. Yup, I'm taking my vitamix with me to college. I just can't live without it.

I'm getting a new container, a new tamper, a vitamix cleaning brush (for easier cleaning in dorm), a new lid (mine's kind of old and chipped), the new drive socket, and a stylish vitamix carrying case (I got a discount on it for buying so much other stuff).
I'm excited.

Wait until you get the new container and cover. SO much easier to use than the old one. Ummm, how did you chip the old cover? I've had mine for 12 years and not chipped it. Gurl! You must really be hard on stuff! :p

Haha . . . well it's a funny story about the old cover. Basically, if something can be broken, I've broken it :( . But on the upside, it means I get to get new stuff :o .

The cover got chipped (the clear plastic part) because I accidently dropped it in the vitamix while the vitamix was on. I'm kind of a clutz.

Also, our vitamix has been used 3-4 times per day, everyday, for the past five years. And not for easy stuff, either (crushing ice, grinding nuts, etc.) The vitamix has faithfully served us, and I think it's time that we give it some love back :) .

Hey I'm curious what a girl like you is taking in college too?

I'm planning on majoring in Environmental Studies. I figure if it weren't for our Earth, none of us would be able to be healthy raw foodists :) .
The college that I'm going to has a fantastic environmental program, and it is by the ocean, so it also has a really good marine biology program (another interest of mine).
I can't say what college it is because I am a bit protective of my privacy.
