I have a bad memory, and I hate writing things down. I want to start 100 percent raw on my Bday next month, but I don't want to wait that long. Yet, I want a date I can remember of when I really started doing the 100 percent, with no slip ups and my Bday is the only day I can seem to remember, LOL:rolleyes: I want to start now, but then I won't remember the day in the years to come, and I want the day I start to be special. Any ideas here? This probably sounds very foolish to some, and I can understand why it would, however, I'm serious!!

Why don't you go raw now for your body and mind's sake because it's good for ya...and think of it as "Orientation" with learning and recipe experiments and such...we all have a learning curve when we begin...and then on your Bday, make the 100% raw commitment as the gift to yourself. You'll start your new personal year off already having a plan for yourself and be ready for take off!

Your memory will improve too. Mine used to be awful and now pretty keen again.:)

Here is what you can do. Start eating raw but in your mind you are committing to 100% on your birthday. I was 100% raw before the day that i comitted. The only difference, before that date i knew i could make exception but on that date that i would commit then there would be no exception for me.

So try making nice green smoothies in the morning, start to try some recipe. Get some DVD on how to prepare raw meal. Alissa's dvd is one of the best especially when you start raw food. So just get educated during that month and try recipes etc...

This is a great idea to pick a date to commit because it gives you time to get ready.

So go ahead and start raw food now.

Congratulations!

I don't actually remember the exact date I started...I always just remember the month. Feb '06. Why don't you try that?
July '08...you commited to eating raw and having a healthier life! Because trust me two and a half years into it...it won't matter when, but that you did and you stuck with it! Raw RAWKS!:D Good luck...you can do this! Just start now!

I tried having a certain day..but didn't work. This is a lifestyle change. Most people cannot change thier lifestyle one day and never go back to old habits. Going back to the old habits actually helps us see why we are making this change and makes us even stronger. Start today with what you can. Start juicing, start making better choices. When your body is ready to make the change it will tell you. Being raw is great because the body and the mind are actually communicating with each other. Right now it's just your mind that wants to change. When your body feels the difference it will want to change too...by rejecting processed cooked food.

Hope this makes sense. There is going to be alot of trial and error and I want you to know that it's just part of the experience that most if not all of us go through when transitioning to raw. It's nothing to be discouraged about because if you keep at it. In the end.. you will be completely raw and never want to go back.

Thank you. These are all such great thoughts, and, well, guess I could start now, it's just that I sorta want a milestone marker, and yet, I know my body wants to start now... I eat mostly raw, but not enough for sure. I am working on up to my Bday by eating all the cooked SAD stuff now, but Im not feeling too good from doing it this way. At least I down my Sour Cream and Onion chips with a Green Smoothie!! Just feeling like I need to eat everything before my Bday, cause after that, no more cooked!!!

Rrose...I think what you are doing is called The Last Supper Syndrome. If you really want to start on your birthday...then before you know it...that month will be gone. Just try to do some 100% raw days to keep you feeling okay up until then.

I once read on a forum about a woman who wanted the date to be significant, so she was contemplating getting a tattoo that said 'Rawfoodist from'... xyz date. I suppose that is a bit extreme...but whatever works for you I suppose.

Another idea is to buy a notebook and start tomorrow. You could journal your experience and you'd always have the date in the diary.

Im all about contrast- for me it helped to go raw for a couple days and then go cooked for a day or two- all cooked and the stuff i crave when raw- seeing the contrast between my days and how awful i felt consuming rthe things i thought i wanted made me more determined to stick to it when the day to go 100% came.
