Anyone have anymore green smoothie recipes they want to share?? I tried making a green smoothie yesterday and it turned out icky.. I'm allergic to bananas, melons like cantaloupe/watermelon, oranges and I avoid lemons now because they burned my tongue... I'm trying to figure out some new smoothie recipes that I might like... I'm new to the raw diet too so this is all a little hard for me to get used to.

yea! I made the best green smoothie the other day. I used orange juice, but you could sub it for something else.
it also had:
1 fresh mango
1 cup frozen cherries
1 cup frozen pineapple
1/2 cup frozen blueberries
and greens
very delicious!!
My favorite is baby spinach and peaches.

Do a search. There's a ton of them on here. Use the Search key on the green bar up there

Thanks Jenna & Jen for your recipes :) It's nice to know that some people are supportive of a new person here. I'll try them this weekend.
I like making "energy soups" sometimes instead of the sweet fruit green smoothies -- they're like V8s with more greens.
Off the top of my head, the following is the sort of stuff I throw into one of those:
-A few tomatoes
-A small amount of soaked sundried tomatoes if I have them around. If not, no biggie
-A few soaked dates if I have them on hand. If not, a touch of agave or honey -- just a little something for a hint of sweetness
-A touch of sea salt
-Maybe some celery
-Maybe some onions
-Some greens
-Maybe an avocado (although I'm not eating those lately, not that I'm avoiding fat, just not into them these days!)
-A touch of cayenne to taste
And then I would also dice some goods like celery or onions, carrots, etc. and eat it like soup. It's actually pretty good and would circumvent all the things you need to avoid.
Just a thought. Welcome on board by the way!
(And -- I think Lucy [veganforlife] was actually trying to be helpful! But, just a tip, if you do search for green smoothie recipes, try putting "green smoothie recipes" in the search box rather than just "green smoothies" so you'll get more specific results).
:)
And, sometimes, I am really heavy on the tomatoes so it is REALLY like an exceptional V8, way better than the commercial stuff.

Hello :) It's alright. Thank you for sharing your recipe for the SOUP!!! I LOVED V8 and I was trying to think what do I need for it? So, there I have it!! Yay.. I did actually try to look up the green smoothies and you're right I should have typed in recipes after green smoothies I would have had more results hehe. Thank you ;)
Gosh, and I think this was obvious -- but blend the first ingredients and add the other stuff after by hand that's diced. :) And, geez, I'm with you. I LOVED V8s! :)

I understood the last ingredients you chopped and added later ;) That's so much of a better idea for a smoothie to me right now than the fruit/green idea because fruits are too sweet to me.. I also can't afford to waste money trying different things out right now so I just wanted to get everyone's opinions on it rather so I don't waste my produce. :D

We are ALL supportive of new people... trust me, we are. It's just we get a thread like this weekly if not more often. We're just asking you to look around for yourself before starting a thread to ask a question is all. Once you've been here a year and have answered the same questions (as there are so many people ask again and again and again...) then you'll be recommending the search function as well. (((hugs)))
As for my recommendation:
apple
spinach (or any other green)
mango.
soooooooo yummy. toss in some soaked chia (http://www.rawveganbooks.com/product_info.php?ref=199&products_id=1001333&affiliate_banner_id=1) seeds, some MSM (http://www.rawveganbooks.com/product_info.php?ref=199&products_id=1001037&affiliate_banner_id=1) (only a little) and some flax (http://www.rawveganbooks.com/product_info.php?ref=199&products_id=100080&affiliate_banner_id=1) or hemp (http://www.rawveganbooks.com/product_info.php?ref=199&products_id=1000958&affiliate_banner_id=1) oil and you have yourself a very healthy meal!

No great recipes to give, just some empathy. It's so hard with simple food allergies. Sometimes it seems like the majority of recipes feature items my son can't have. For instance, he is allergic to coconut, lemon, and citrus among others. Really makes recipe hunts time-consuming!
For smoothies, one I like with no banana/orange is:
strawberry
peach
spinach
and
blueberry
mango
spinach

yes, it makes it hard to make something to eat when you have to avoid some foods and especially when you can't eat even SAD foods because you have severe acid reflux which is ok, I just have to adapt a new eating style and I'm just having a hard time adjusting to this because I'm forced to change my diet unless I want to be sick but hopefully I will heal as soon as I can get the smoothies right and keep going. Right now I'm going through some unusual eating patterns even though I haven't touched SAD foods for a while, couple months been off and on starving myself instead and eating now just mainly fruits to see if it'll bother me as far as either allergies or acid problem so I've been slowly increasing my intake of fruit up to 3 today so I'm doing better. I did eat A LOT of tomatoes today, about 3 pints dry.. crazy huh? I just hope I can get going with the smoothies soon and start feeling better without being hungry or having digestion problems. thanks for the recipes and all the suggestions.. I do appreciate it. :)

This is so true.
If anyone is supportive of a new person, it's me! I was merely trying to save time and trouble for you.

Awwww shucks...
::kicks dirt clod:::o
Sounds like you're off to a good start! Yay!
Clare do you have a dehydrator yet?? You can make your own chips and dip. I've been really happy with some of them!! And you can TOTALLY make stuff like what you're making for your family. It does take a little time and effort to get used to it, there's a learning curve, but there's a lot out there in the way of really filling, fragrant creations.
And you would LOVE a lot of the salsas or tomato-based recipes if you haven't tried them already! They are GREAT on stuff like celery or cukes or crackers if you're that far.
And I forgot and don't know if it's helpful or not, but I did a posting on my blog about green smoothies that has a recipe I really like at the bottom. It does great with the strawberries changed over to any other berry or something like pineapple. :)
And I forgot to mention adding something like basil/oregano etc. to the tomato-based smoothies. I was just listing stuff off the top of my head really quickly!....

It's ok I understand.. I did try to look the green smoothies up on here and got a million different threads here so I just did a google search and got some too. I did make a smoothie yesterday and today. I made a simple one but was still good. I've always liked greens so it's not too hard for me to like them it's just the combination of greens and fruits together I'm not exactly sure how much to put together... I guess I'll get it right, but the one I made today and yesterday I made was tomatoes, romaine, celery and sea salt. Was good.
I measured it today it was 2 cups exactly and I went to pour it into my soup bowl to eat like vegetable soup * mental block * when I hit the ON button on the Vitamix & it went spraying the kitchen green. I ate most of it and still got some in my hair ha ha.
I started this diet because I was having so much trouble and pain eating regular foods, but I realized after finding this site and hearing about the smoothies from my aunt that I needed to just change my diet instead of taking a pill.
I'm 28 and I've grown up eating tons of vegetables, greens and fruits hardly any meat because I hated meat all my life. Well, when I turned 18 graduated went to work and college I went out to eat a lot or pressed for time would make a quick bowl of pasta. Not good for me especially in recent years eating at Mexican (beans, cheeses, chips) and Italian (cheeses, pastas) sodas & chocolate killed my stomach acids.. Well, fat good those restaurants were for me!!!
Wasted all my money and hurt my body on those foods.
I'm really glad I found Raw/smoothies.. I read in Victoria Boutenko's book that she & the people in her experiment fixed their stomach acids and bodies by eating smoothies so I'm convinced I can do the same.
My aunt's aunt is a long time vegan and green smoothie eater now and she has NO wrinkles ( she's 80s ) color in her hair and ENERGY like a 20 year old. IF that doesn't sell you on the raw/GS diet I don't know what would ha ha.
Well, hopefully I will become well soon. I was sick for the past few months missing out on summertime & my schoolwork that I was signed up for. Hope that I can go in August back to the university I was and finish my degree. :)

if you've read 'green for life' then you know approx 60/40 for your mix of greens and fruit.
the more raw you are, the quicker your body will heal! give it what it needs and it'll respond!
and i bet you can know understand (after finding sooooooo many threads asking about green smoothies) why a search was suggested :)
here's to your health! *clinks glass*
