A couple of weeks ago all I wanted was radishes, radishes and more radishes. Now it is Okra. I never ate okra before in my life and now it is all I think about. Yesterday in the grocery store I just started salivating over the okra. When this happens is it because your body has a certain nutritional need? What is in radishes and/or okra that my body needs?

In my experience, my raw food cravings have matched my nutritional needs. I eat what I crave and I am well nourished.
I can't say what's in okra or radishes that you need, but I'm on a radish kick myself. I got some delicious local radishes at a farmer's market yesterday.

I'm kinda with you rawstrength .....
I relate it to nutritional needs...on my first year of raw I would just suddenly be struck with these cravings for things whch went against my food combining ethics but I ate them and had no problems with digestion (like for some reason during the first year I woke up with a distinct craving for avocado, bananas and cashews - I specifically had the thought of a banana slices, topped with a dollup up smashed avocado/thin slices and topped up with chopped cashews)...why I did, I didn't know but I LOVED it.....
It's kinda neat how the body will begin to repair or refortify itself once we start really eating to live insead of just eating to the palate.....

Radishes: This food is low in Saturated Fat, and very low in Cholesterol. It is also a good source of Riboflavin, Vitamin B6, Calcium, Magnesium, Copper and Manganese, and a very good source of Dietary Fiber, Vitamin C, Folate and Potassium.
Okra: is low in calories and is a good source of many nutrients including vitamin B6 and
C, fiber, calcium, and folic acid. It is effective for the prevention of neural tube defects
in developing fetuses mainly due to its high content of vitamin B6, calcium, fiber, and
folic acid
I just goggled both of these foods. :D How interesting.

Radishes are a magnificent blood cleanser...your body was probably working on cleansing your bloodstream etc. I went through a bout of radish cravings 2 months ago myself. I felt like I had an oil change afterwards. :)

i think once we really start to clean out our bodies tell us what it needs. so you might crave things you never did before, or at different times. sometimes i can't eat enough olives i'll eat pounds of them over a day or two and then i can't stand them for months on end.
