My story:
Attended a raw detox retreat (10 days) about 3 years ago. Results were impressive, though I wasn't able to continue once home. But, the option was always in the back of my mind.
Fast forward to early 2008 when I knew something more had to change, for age plus health issues created an unnerving and unhealthy situation. Got Alissa's book and took it to the beach one weekend to study. While at the beach raw just happened.
It's been pretty darned easy, all things considered. I committed to 30 days; at the end of that time I thought, "why would I stop now?" Physical changes are occurring slowly, but that's just fine. Have lost about 15#.
Happy raw!

What beach was that, I'll have to book a trip there and experience raw happening. ;)

Congrats, sounds like a breakthrough. I had a similar experience--raw "just happened" to me too, and after thirty days, I too thought, why would I ever not eat this way? I had a lot of weight fall off the first month (June) and now it's slow and steady, which is great.

I think juicing helps plant the seed to better eating. I juiced alot when I was younger and I think it really helped set me up for how I eat today.
People say it's too hard to eat this way..I just tell them to start juicing at first and the rest will follow.
You are doing a great job.

Cherries:
It was Manzanita on the northern Oregon coast. They have a fabulous health food grocery store, so once the decision was made, I could purchase what I needed without delay. Obviously it was just time . . . .
Thanks one and all for your nice comments and support. They are most appreciated. I'm very raw-alone in my life, as many others may be, too. It's nice to check the message threads to help stay motivated.
Oh yes, one of the things I'm most lovin' about going raw is that -- for whatever blessed reason -- the emotional eating issue immediately disappeared. I've been struggling with that challenge for 50+ years. Go figure! If I'd only known sooner . . . .
