I have a friend whose #4 vetebrae is disintegrating. When it slides out of position she is in great pain. Down the road she will probably have to have a fusion done. My question is: right now we are looking at just trying to stop the situation from getting much worse.....if that is possible. We are trying to come up with a smoothie that will give her calcium. She cannot tolerate cucumbers, peppers and onions (gas) and cannot have garlic.
Any suggestions???

I just read on another post that chia seeds have calcium in.
Also fresh figs are high in calcium, kale and collards and I think brocolli are other sources.
Also if she is interested in alternative healing you might want to look at www.quantumtouch.com which is a a really easy way to learn energy healing and a great way to raise your vibrational energy. It has reports of helping with back problems.

Organic raw tahini is the best way to get calcium in a very absorbable form...
also, the strongest grade of blackstap mollasses is high in calcium, as well as iron...
...you might want to look into things that HINDER calcium absorbtion, to ensure she's not doing any of them...(all I can remember is something to do with orange juice, & that may be to do with something else entirely, sorry!)
...broccoli is also high in calcium...
...here's a link for the levels of calcium in different veggies:

There's an herb called knitbone that does what it's name says, great for using as a poltice (& I think can be taken internally) when an arm is broken, etc., help it heal much faster...a good herbologist should be able to tell you whether it would be applicable in her case...
...I'll be keep her in my prayers,
{& I believe in miracles!}

maybe try Bikram yoga to help alleviate pain and align the back- i popped a rib out a few years ago and bikram seems to be the only way i can keep it in place without a chiro every week
all your leafy greens have a lot of calcium, wheatgrass therapy as well- wheatgrass is a completely perfect food. you have to do high doses- 4-20oz a day to heal, anything below that is maintenence. i like frozen- easy and milder taste since it is grown outdoors. it is miraculous stuff

Thanks for all your suggestions. I will pass them on to her.
She has been advised NOT to see a chiro or have a manipulation of any sort until she has been to the specialist. It looks very serious.

Hi~
When I was praying for your friend, I really felt impressed to go research knitbone for her, & it looks like it really will help her problem, so here's some info you can pass along...
{...I generally don't use herbs too often, though there are some I do use as needed, but it always amazes me that for almost (or maybe) every physical problem, God made a plant to assist, or even totally heal it...so awesome!!!}

SOME of the info there (& they sell it, in tincture form) below...
"BODILY INFLUENCES: Old bones, broken bones and old flesh and damaged flesh are replaced with new by virtue of the fact that Comfrey feeds only the best body cells and encourages thorough, rapid growth of healthy new cells, hence its title of "cellular proliferant". Healing is swift when taken in sufficient quantity. It is high in protein and is easily digested for any bodily repair. Comfrey is a most remarkable healer and has proven itself effective in the regeneration of nerve and brain tissues and all other soft tissues and bones. Hence its common name, Knitbone. May be taken in large quantities as it is a nutritive, a food especially good for delicate digestive systems. Its chief healing ingredient (allantonin) is very soothing to any irritation, internal or external. It as well as Rose Hip is indeed body glue to prevent and correct wrinkling and aging. Enjoy it and live well.
NOTE: (Comfrey) Fear not. Over the years just about every herb we hold dear to get ourselves well, has been attacked by "scientists with 20/20 rifle barrel vision." They have attacked Apples, Alfalfa, Apricots, Borage, Capsicum, Chamomile, Coltsfoot, Gravelroot, Licorice Root, Lobelia, Sassafras and now even Comfrey, the gentlest and most comforting of herbs and seek to instill us with fear and self doubt. Even some herbalists who should know better, got on the band wagon. They say Comfrey has a "deadly poison" in it called pyrrolizidine alkaloids. If indeed pyrrolizidine alkaloids do occur in healthy Comfrey plants grown in healthy organic soil, then they are most assuredly antibiotics rendered harmless to us and guided by the dependable natural governing wisdom of the miracle that is Comfrey. All Antibiotics are poisons. That is what the name means, anti (against) biotic (life). An antibiotic kills the things that try to kill us. Beware of those who seek to separate us from our trust and belief in the Creator, and what has been given to us and take the Creator's place. "Scientists" can prove anything if they get the right test subjects, plants from sick soil, and set the experiment up just right and not give any of the other herbs that might help Comfrey do its job. The only qualified people to say if Comfrey is good for you are the practitioners who give it and the people who take it and get well in record time. If "scientists" truly want to learn about herbs then they should approach the subject by learning to use them, with respect, an open mind and gratitude for what the Creator has given us. Then their "scientific proof" will look much different."

I'll keep praying for her,
