I had bought 3 lbs of chia on ebay 1-2 years ago and used to put about a teaspoon of them in my smoothies, but I started using less as I was running out. I saw my health food store started selling them so I bought a lbs and was wondering what else I can do with them other than put in smoothies.
Thanks

I've never put them in smoothies but I make a kick-*** pudding with em and all SADers love it.
T chia
1/2 cup almond milk
2 teaspoons-ish agave
dash cinnamon
T shredded coconut
add some cacao/carob if desired.
Mix in a container with a lid and shake every few mins for 30 mins. DELICIOUS!!! You'll want to double/triple the recipe.

I've seen lots of suggestions around making puddings, etc. but personally, I love them in my green smoothies! I use a tablespoon and a half, and let me tell you, that keeps me going for a long time. One thing I noticed shortly after starting these not too long ago was an increase in strength and endurance at the gym. Not surprising, if you read the stuff about them being a traditional Aztec food given to runners, etc. Good for digestion as well, as they help sweep things out. GOOD stuff all around.
But basically with any liquid or wet mixture you want to thicken, the chia seeds will do it!

I made this pudding this morning. It was kind of like tapioca, atleast the consistancy part.
3T chia seeds
1 C water
2 T Tahini
1-2 T cacao nibs
4 drops stevia
1 tsp vanila
Blend everything except chia seeds into a mylk. Pour into a bowl and mix in chia seeds. Let is sit for 10-20 min. Stir it up and enjoy. I topped it with blueberries. Both the tahini and chia seeds are good sources of calcium!
