I am having trouble trusting in my body right now. It's not the diet, which I 110% believe in, but it's the voices from my past bringing up how "dangerous" it is to conceive when underweight. I worry that b/c I'm underweight my baby won't be receiving enough nutrients and will be born underweight as well.
When I conceived my daughter, now 4, I was underweight, probably about the same as I am now. One midwife refused to see me at all, saying that I was high-risk b/c of the weight (nothing else going on...no diabetes, family cancers, etc) and the birth center that I ended up going to pushed for lots of dairy so that I gained 50 lbs in my pregnancy.
Now obviously I would never do such a thing to myself or my baby, but I'm having trouble gaining weight already so I worry about when I become pregnant (we're going to start trying in September). Anyone have advice or personal experiences to share?
I'm 6'1" and about 120 lbs. I was about 132 lbs in January on a cooked vegan diet consisting of probably 70% grains. I've always been thin, so I'm not looking to be the 145-170 or something lbs that "they" consider to be my normal weight.
