For starters, I began the raw food challenge this month, went strong, 100% raw for 5 days with no trouble at all. Silly me, I went to a BBQ/ Birthday party and totally crashed and burned. I started today great with a green smoothie and then ended up eating bread, tortilla chips, baked ziti and cookies at the BBQ!!! WHAT WAS I THINKING. I am not being hard on myself about the fact that I strayed... I am going crazy because only 3 hours later I am SICK!!! not to be gross but I have vomited 3 times!!! When I was about 90% raw I would sometimes indulge in cooked and I would be fine, but after the 5 days at 100% ... obviously eating that much cooked was a REALLY REALLY BAD idea.
I cannot believe how sick I am right now, Im so tired, all I want to do is sleep.
However, I am sort of glad I had this experience, I cannot say I felt the best when I was 100% for the 5 days because I did experience some sluggish'ness due to detox, but It was nothing compared to this. Now I truly realize what a negative effect cooked yucky, greecey, fatty foods have on our body's.
BIG EW.

Hang in there. I know what you're going through. When I fall, I fall hard. I hope you feel better soon.

Fantastic! Your body is really trying to make sure you stay raw! Lucky you. Most people don't get such a clear message. :D
(PS I hate being sick it's nasty - hope you feel better soon)

vomiting sounds more like food poisoning to me than a reaction just to cooked food after only 5 days raw. but getting sick from what you eat is always good motivation to get back on track.

I think I vomited because It was fried food, which I NEVER even ate in the first place... It really didn't sit right at all!

i think food poisoning usually takes 6-8 hours to show up. just an fyi, it's good to know.

This same thing happened to me after being 100% for the first few months. My hubby took me the carnival in town and for a "splurge" I had my old fav, an elephant ear. Within one hour of eating 1/2 of one...I was throwing up.
I agree it was probably the fatty deep fried stuff that got you. It's a great reminder and lesson on why we eat raw and stay raw. ;)
Weeeell -- I usually eat raw but here and there I make my decisions not to. I have learned from my mistakes, and whatever choices I make there will be SOME consequences... Buuut, that said, if I have just this or that in the moment, it's not a big deal in many cases. 100% raw or not, if I've ever binged on crappy food, my body has become very angry with me...
I hope you're feeling better soon, in any case.

I've had similar experiences - but not as bad as throwing up - I think I want a certain SAD food, so I give in and have it. First of all, it never tastes as good as I thought it would - and I feel like complete A$$ afterward. Our bodies definitely prefer raw!

Hey Srsarri, how long did it take you to go from 200 to 147 pounds?

It took me about 8 months to shed the 50lbs! I wasn't raw the entire time though
