I'm just curious how much green smoothie people drink everyday? I've been doing about 0.5-0.6L every morning on my way to work, but after reading Green For Life I've been thinking of maybe doubling that and having a second one as well.
What quantity do you all consume, and do you tend to have it all in the morning or spread it out during the day? Do you think green smoothies should take up a major percentage of your daily food intake?
Thanks!
Brian

Hey B-Ri
I usually have a quart of green smoothie in the morning. Lately, my smoothies have been maroon because I load em up with cherries :D I drink my smoothie around this time (9am-11am) and that's it. Sometimes I'll have more than one a day, but not usually. I don't usually have enough ingredients to have more than a quart a day. Maybe when I move out on my own...but for now, I just do one a day. I think everyone should have a green smoothie at least once a day. I feel and function best when I've had it. I make better choices throughout the day when I've had it. It's awesome !

I usually have a quart for breakfast and another quart midmorning or for lunch. Sometimes I have another quart in the afternoon. I like green smoothies a lot, but a major benefit for me is that they're easy and don't involve a lot of chopping, like salads. I make them in the morning and take them to work and I don't have to think about food for the rest of the day. They're also easy to drink, as opposed to chewing a big bowl of greens. I understand there are benefits to chewing a big bowl of greens, but I don't like to feel like I'm racing against the clock to finish my salad on my lunch break! :)
So, they do make up a major percentage of my daily food intake, but I don't know that they SHOULD -- it just works for me. I feel good about getting lots of greens -- it seems to help keep me on track and give me an energy boost and help my skin. And it makes the way I eat feel simple.

I second what Parsnip said.
I bring 2 quarts to work everyday and drink it throughout the day. Simple and good. There's no need to take a lunch break.
Consequently, I've converted several co-workers on to green smoothies. Most are very curious about what that "green stuff" is.

my hubby and i drink as many as we desire throughout the day. often he only takes green smoothies to work with him and that's all he has. he loves the way it gives him energy and yet keeps his belly feeling light!

Ive been drinking one very large one all morning long. Not sure how much but it practically filled up my Vita Mixer. I drink it over about a 4hour period.
I fill it with one cup ice water, spinach/kale leaves, one orange, one banana, and various frozen berries. I also add one Tb flax seeds ground

When I was drinking green smoothies on a regular basis, I was drinking about 1 quart or more almost every morning. I always feel better when I drink them and need to start drinking them regularly again!

I make about 32 oz in the morning - fill one cup and drink that on my way to work. Then about an hour later I slowly sip the rest of it (i'm a grazer so that helps).
I try to get myself to make another one for dinner that I put in a big wine glass!
I'm single so I don't have to worry about feeding anyone other than myself. I find that sipping that for a while sometime ends up filling me up and I don't want to eat other stuff around the house.
I've been thinking about trying to come home at lunch to have one then too.
